  1. Hit up Brevent and La Gliere today, lots of sun and ripping groomers. A bit of off paste today but it was hitnor miss depending on the aspect. Hired a guide for tomorrow and they are calling for 5” overnight and 8-13 during the day tomorrow. Also took a ride up the midi because today may have been the only clear day. 2. Pretty good conditions so far today except on Razors which is cookies and boilerplate and weird ridges. Everything else is great and I even got whistled at by a patroller on paradise. Ran into indeggio on the lift. He’s ripping bump again. It’s starting to get busy here, but the VIP line is roped up properly so I’m not worried about it. I’m hoping to play Crazy Mike on the Monsters today. The Monsters fucking rip btw. I’m so glad I got this ski. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  7. I stayed late today, and I saw some horrible things, man. I was sort of planning to goof around for a few hours and then quit about 4-ish and to watch the Saints game in one of the bars. (I don't have a TV, so a bar was inevitable anyway, so why not a bar that's skiing-adjacent, was how my thinking went). Holy cow. It was like some kind of Bat Signal went up at 11:00 and ten thousand people saw it and came to Blue Mountain. There was a huge line at the Main St. double chair and a MASSIVE line at the 6-pack.

  8. 1) when I say it it's funny because I'm awesome. 2) that was a while ago and but I'm 99.9% I was being tongue in cheek. 3) I was a JF passholder back then. Believe it or not I wasn't always a blue passholder. Salty there are many chapters to my story. 4) I like beer. Peace ...

  15. Hayata, Mrs. Hayata, and I enjoyed a morning session at blue today. Nowhere near the crowds of yesterday. We skied Paradise, NMDW, Sidewinder, Razors, Challenge, Lazy, Switchback, and Main St. on our first pass. Everything was improved from yesterday except Razors as Root explained and Challenge had hard to see ice patches to be wary of on the headwall. On subsequent passes across the mountain NMDW had become scraped off with sizeable ice patches, everything else was holding up well. We felt Sidewinder was ROTD for top to bottom snow quality. The bumps were freshly seeded and Indiggo and other bumpers were working them into shape.

  20. I used to do a lot of school work(architectural/ construction) and always thought it’s too bad all this good stuff is wasted on kids.... but then again 8th grade was easier the first time, kicked my ass successively with each of 3 kids.... still trying to reconcile my orthodox faith in digital age- God FTW!!!!!! 21. First day out for me. Arrived at 9:15. Crowds were small to start the day. Snow was pretty good. Only a few icy spots. My son and I worked our way across the mountain. Started on snowflake/ridge and did all of the blues before taking a break to warm up a little. The lodge was full when we went for our break. I find it funny that people throw their bags on and under tables and think that they have claimed the area. We got a coffee and hot chocolate and sat down and a father/daughter came in from skiing and acted annoyed that we were sitting in their spots. I gave him a friendly hello. He didn't respond and started riffling through his bags. Also a lot of women just sitting at tables reserving for their families as the rest skied. After our break we skied the rest of the mountain. Thunderbolt was nice, challenge had some small moguls skiers right next to happy land, East Mountain was really nice snow. River shot was a lot of fun. We did it about 5 times and Floyd's was also good. Most times I am there I avoid Floyds because of ice. This was my son's first time on Floyd's. Great day overall.

  23. Ha ha, it feels that way. I have to keep reminding myself that this is season two for me when I see the PASR crew go screaming down Challenge at eleventy-thousand MPH whooping it up. I want to ski like that when I grow up. I have been drinking longer than any other PASR though, I'm pretty sure.

  25. Agree with that. Rainbow road is probably my least favorite course. 64 is still the better of the two, overall. lolololol be careful, EAF is grumpy tonight and will call you out!

  26. Surprise day today for sure! Was planning on taking the MLK day off, but when I got up at my typical 4-something AM and checked the webcams and saw BLACK, I was beginning to question the decision. Thinking that the mountain was probably dark because they hadn't completed fixing the pipe and didn't do anything to the mountain, was it gonna be worth burning a vacation day on the same conditions as yesterday? Aw fuck it, I'm skiing! As I crossed the 10' ridge and rolled into the 14' valley, I saw the digger still sitting at the hole and a groomer mid Main Street just sitting there? In a minute or so, the groomer was joined by another and started moving up towards the bump, but not through/on them. Oh boy... Some of the other bumpers arrived and said the the bumps had been reset, so that was a positive, but didn't believe the pipe was fixed, sigh. On the first ride up crossing over Sidewinder, the snow looked strangely new and not just ground up old, looking up under the lift of Challenge, there was clear over-blow and to all our surprise, they managed to make snow on many of the trails. First run of Razors was good (not sure if they made snow on it), but Challenge was superb. NM/DW was quite good as well. Headed over to check out the newly seeded bumps, which needed slipping and eventually came around, but because of the snow, they were granular and got down to the boiler quick, with a few VERY slick spots. A good blow overtop of them will make them great! Hopefully they'll do that tonight! Met up with Tarpon and his son and we took a run down Challenge/Razors and stopped at the hole. The guys had dropped the new pipe into place and were working on welding it back up. From the looks of it, they were close to being done and we speculated they'll probably pressure test it tonight and hopefully it'll be good to go for this little cold spell. Ran into Root on his way out and he gave us the lowdown on his new skis, which look sweet. Picked up Matt and we made a few runs down Sidewinder, Challenge and Main Street spine. The upper section had some fine snow, but midway down went to shit fast, but the snow along the lower side was still good. Hit the lodge for some beers and bugged out. The entire day turned out to be full of good surprises.

  27. Looking at the way the storm is forming there should be light accumulations curing the day with much of the heavier snow happening on and off from 6pm-6am. I'm not sure when I'll go up tomorrow. Might end up being a night session with a parking lot/bar session to follow.

  32. Another weekend up north. I drove up to Whiteface on Friday night to chase the storm. The drive up was sketchy. It was interesting at 7:30am driving to the mountain in 7" with a Kia Forte. I only had to go 1 mile as I pulled off in a parking lot. They ended up with 6-8" after all said and done. It was a gamble with the 2" of rain the day before and 50 degree temps. I went for it and it ended up being a pretty fun Saturday. Some areas were extremely variable, but I'm just happy it snowed. At 1am it was still sleeting. That's actually a great sound to fall asleep to surprisingly. Last night and this morning was brutally cold. I woke up to it being -16 degrees and more snow in the car. The cross ventilation and fresh air is key to a good nights sleep. It makes the car 5-10 degrees colder, but if you're in the proper gear it won't matter. Sucked driving home because I couldn't get my windows fully up until I got into NJ LOL.

  35. I'm super lazy when it comes to skiing, and honestly getting from Stevenson to Sullivan doesn't bother me one bit. The Caesar trail isn't so bad, but yes it requires a little effort. What I really like about the Stevenson side is in the morning, when there's no line, you can take 3 different trails which are all 100% downhill from the top of the lift, and then get right back on the lift without any effort. Edit: Yes, I know Blue is equally good in this respect, but I believe I was comparing CB to MC, not CB to BM.

  42. Yeah, it got wicked crowded in the afternoon, but the VIP line on the 6 was the shit. Most of the time it was less than a minute or two wait, depending upon who the attendant was and if the people ahead of us would group up. Heard from a BM person that a racer went off the course and broke a leg and another went off the course and into the woods and was knocked unconscious. Bumps were atrocious, rock solid glaciers, far unlike Saturday's. Kept getting spit out since there was nary a way to control the speed in them even with bump skis. Otherwise, the snow on the side of Main Street, Lazy and Sidewinder were pretty good and so we kept lapping them. Met and skied with a good park skier who Tarpon termed "Pickle Man" due to his business dealings. Pretty good skier, throwing consecutive 720's off the lower jumps. Real nice guy.
