  1. When one finds mashed potatoes all over the mountain, one does what any self-respecting PASR would do. No, Doug, not stick my peen in them; I said *self-respecting*. I headed over to the vaunted Widowmaker in search of the blower pow that surely awaits there. Only about shin deep, not up to usual WM standards, but it's tough to be too upset by that considering it's mid-March and was 55 degrees today. Widow actually did have the smoothest batch of taters on the hill so cruised down that with some speed and noticed it was really starting to crust/firm up. Man, that happens quick. Dropped right into Midway down to Lower Main expecting to suddenly be in a minefield of push piles at any moment, but it never really came. In fact, the were both almost as smooth as Widow. If I had the time and the legs, Main St would have been the run to repeat. I don't though, so off to the lodge, secured the new pass. The cashier reminded me to redeem my buddy pass by closing day on 3/31. You're my boy, Blue. See yinz this weekend for Sweet Treat Saturday

  2. Took Sidewinder down and decided to ski the bottom of lazy mile off of that, 1st time I've ever made that move. Sidewinder was nice, in about the same condition as all of the other trails.Maybe a little more cut up than most. Had a few mandatory pops of air wasn't expecting but handled it just fine. Decided to jump on the Burma chair, and wouldn't you know it I'm sharing my 1st lift ride of the night, as some Jerry jumped in with me. Just kidding I'm by myself of course.

  3. I think I can speak for us all that we would be super bummed if we didn't see you at Blue next year.

  4. Spring is by far the worst of all 4 seasons. It has literally no redeeming qualities. 1. Snow melts. 2. mountains close. 3. Mud. 4 Mud. 5. Occasional flooding. 6. That grey area between bundling up and wearing short sleeves. 7. Mud. 8. Mountains close.

  5. Figured I'd head up to renew the pass, and since tomorrow is a rainout, very a few runs in. I hate it when it's this crowded tho.

  6. If i owned Blue, it would be because i have too much money, and just like to ski. There would be no daily ticket sales. Season passes for PASR's in good standing would be $600, others would pay $2000. The 6 fuckers on the lift with me Saturday would pay more, and would most likely have to ski with GSS's maids outfit for at least a few days.

  7. After all of the questions and advice, we decided to go to Gore this week, Looks like weather good overall with expected 1-3 inches on Thursday night and Friday 1-3 inches. Wednesday might be a little messy. Found a decent deal at Wyndam Lake George and the lift tickets were very reasonable for 3 day ticket. Looking forward to exploring this mountain. If we like it we will probably go again next year since 4th graders ski for free in New York.

  8. Sun is starting to go down, so figured before it firms up it's time for a shave. Headed over to Razors. Doesn't look too badd from the top lip. A little bumpy down that 1st head wall but not too bad all the way to the bottom after that. Back on the 6 pack once again have the whole couch to myself

  9. Another solo ride on a 6-pack, and time for Switchback. A couple guys dropped in as I stopped to take a picture. The snow was nice, and I took my 2nd favorite line down switch. That is, hugging skiers right all the way to the bottom. Stopped one more time for a picture. It's always nice when it's just you and the geese. Welcome back guys.

  10. First run was NightWeaver, straight mashed potatoes, significantly cut up, minor piles, very skiable. Oof, underestimated the toll 7 tiny runs managing my 5 year old left on my legs from Monday. Not gonna be too many trips down tonight. Next was Lazy to Falls. More potatoes, fun run. Dead here. Riding the 6 solo.

  11. Ended up doing another snowshoe hike last night with my builder, his wife and their dog. Area we went to called Cement Creek. There are 16 cabins back there accessible only in summer unless you snowshoe in. The plan for today was to hike the morning, then ski the afternoon. I checked out a place called Hartman Rocks in Gunnison I have been wanting to go to for a while. Did not see one other person. It is a very popular mountain biking and climbing area in summer. Got a call from home that my mother had a fall. Just waiting for my sheets to dry then heading home, bummed. Supposed to snow here tomorrow. Hopefully get back here in June. 14. Buy the pass. Oh, and BTW, you are going out west next year. I do get the idea of waiting until next years pass comes out, but my god that is really a long time to not have one. Before i had a season pass to JFBB, i skied like 2-3 times a year. I hated shelling out window price.

  15. Its not marketing its a $$$$ thing, once they hit the number they need for early pass sales aka float them a loan its behooves them to raise the price because they aren't saving any money on taking a loan.

  16. i saw that, got shook, fell for the bluff, and i think purchased a pass yesterday. i say "i think" because i used my phone and their mobile site is an absolute disaster. i order stuff online a fair amount and have never dealt with a worse site to make a purchase. it is a tradition for me to send two confirmation emails to blue, one a few days after i buy the pass, and another one a few days before the season starts, just to confirm I am indeed actually a pass holder. i will certainly have to do that this time

  17. Antics with pass dates and quantities are BS. These things arent rare earth minerals, just arbitrary self created shortages designed to manipulate prospective purchasers. Weaker even than the farewell tours that the Who have been doing for more than half of their career. You announce a date things are available til, you should stick to it.

  18. Hey All, I’m back from a fun evening session at Blue mountain the true mountain. In the house were Atomic Jeff, Johnny Law, NMSki, Indiggio, Beau and a few dozen others. Temperatures fell through the 40s into the 30s and there was an almost full moon and nice sunset. I first skied Razors which was smooth on the top and bottom sections with some stiff chop in the middle. Sidewinder has some last rays of sunlight on the top section and then choppity chop chop and air was easy to catch on the falls. Paradise was pretty nice and lazy mile was the run of the night and I ran that the most. I also took one run on Main Street which was firm. I had a nice variety of beer in the lot thanks to Law, Ajeff and Indiggio and was able to pawn off my leftover low octane 6.2% beers from the weeks to Beau and Brunette chick who I have seen for years. All in all was fun times even talk of Beaus famous Jell-O shots which I had a few years ago and I didn’t trip balls. JADIP and good music while stuck on 22 earlier

  19. Knoebels is the shit. They probably won't let you tailgate in the lot because their lot is essentially a big grassy field surrounded by trees. Place is fantastic.

  20. I’m trying to buy on Thursday 3/28 and hope they don’t try and say they ran out. They have multiple posts saying the price is good until 3/31 so it’s poor marketing to lie and now say limited number. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  21. I have major anxiety opening day because my pass usually doesn’t work. Doesn’t help that there are two of me in their records one with last name first and one with first name first. If i owned blue the season pass prices would be as follows. $419 until March 1st..$449 until April 1st..$499 until April 30th and then bump it to $550 until like October than have a $499 or $449 sale until Black Friday.

  22. I think its unlikely you will get a free pass. If its really a big deal not to spend it now, i still have the picture of the sign that says $429 till April 1. I was planning on throwing that back at them if it did mysteriously go up before i purchased mine. I got my Epic Pass saturday though.

  29. They don’t let you tailgate in the lot, but they do let you cook food on gas grills (provided by them) with propane (provided by them) at picnic tables under covered pavilions. No alcohol in the park tho, I think also prohibited at the pavilions. Allowed at your campiste in the attached campground though. Knoebels has enough food options that I wouldn’t waste time tailgating there, although we used to grill a big party on Friday night when a large group of us from rec.roller-coaster used to camp there the Friday before Phall Phunfest:

  33. You’d have to take some weekends in April up to hunter and mount snow and or take a trip out west to equal 31 days. Still 2-3 more weekends at Blue.

  35. I never heard of ten day policy but I think Phillycore should buy a season pass...I remember when Phillycore was an instructor and skied out west most seasons and I think this season he wasn’t there much but probably cause of having a new girlfriend and serious love for craft beer. Life is too short to not ski much.

  36. I snagged mine last night after seeing that 100 -passes left thing. I would be kicking myself if I had to pay an extra hundred

  37. Two seasons ago I only used my season pass twice in the beginning of the season. It was completely on me. I didn't / wouldn't have even asked if they had something like that. We all know the risks in this sport, and in purchasing something in advance.... Win some..lose some... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  40. Wow, easily the best day of PA skiing I have had this season. Cant believe my daughter Amy made it down this without a spill and went back for a second go on it - wall to wall large soft natural bumps - along with 15 other runs. She love the mashed potatoes and it was a blast. No lines. Nicest lodge facilities of any place in PA (better even than Bear Creek or Big Bear, and this pla e also has terrain worth skiing). Super nice people with a southern feel. Great views. Bluebird afternoon. Well worth checking out. Will post more shots later.

  41. I think that's entirely possible at Killington if it's near freezing. I've encountered different conditions from the top of K1 gondola going down Great Northern, which I found very cool. Like fog at the top and then sunny at the bottom

  42. Gore's a great mountain when the conditions are good. About the only place you will see a line is at the gondola and the line moves fast. Make sure to make it to Burnt Ridge. Sagamore's one of my favorite trails there. Hopefully they won't have Echo closed for racing. 46er at the Ski Bowl is good with new snow as well and never crowded over there. There's a lot of traverses getting around but once you know where they are and when to keep your speed up you can manage pretty well. Saturday you may want to go to the Ski Bowl lodge. it's never crowded and you can park close. Pipeline can be a long traverse getting back at the end of the day if the snow is slow.
