Not that you should listen to me, but I would suggest buying gift cards to smaller, independently owned places instead of chain restaurants. Especially this year.7 points

I like where your head is at, but knowing Blue, they will close the entire mountain down just so the entitled race team can have the whole place covid-free.6 points

Yeah it probably will. It is necessary, but there needs to be some federal funding intervention. If they can bail out airlines they should be able to spare a few dollars for restaurants, theaters, arts, music venues, etc. But what do I know, I'm just a nurse.4 points

Yikes. I changed hairdressers because mine wouldn't wear a mask. Now I get my temp checked before entering and everyone inside has a mask on.3 points

The numbers shot up in September as soon as schools opened and continue to get higher. There has to be some correlation.3 points

I mean none of this is even remotely enforceable right? It's kind of the honor system and it's going to make people think twice. I think there is a big difference between crossing a state line to go to a big party and crossing it to go infect a few dozen innocent fish.2 points

I may never go back there since my last ski day there in 2019 was a cross off on the bucket list.2 points

There's also the "No shouting fire in a crowded theatre" restriction on freedom of speech. The right to peacefully assemble isn't an absolute and can be restricted - you don't typically complain about fire code limits in municipal buildings, but that's exactly the same restriction that's being applied here - it's unsafe to have a gathering larger than X, because there's a chance something might happen and hurt people at a larger gathering. As for cold weather, bring it on. Last year Blue was open by now. Sent from my XP8800 using Tapatalk2 points

Probably not unless they want to go around blues parking lot looking for out of state plates. Realistically my wife and I both work from home, my kids will probably be all virtual soon, and we are all pretty diligent about social distancing and wearing masks. Fortunately our county has free testing 5 minutes from my house. My family has used it 2x for what amounted to colds and allergies but better safe that sorry. This winter will be a shit show so weāll see how it plays out.1 point

Eaf is used to complying with authority as heās from mother Russia...reminds me of when Billy Joel was in Moscow and flipped over a piano. I wonder if a young Eaf was in the audience.1 point

Also you donāt have to quarentine if you get tested. When are they gonna have the fifteen minute tests like they have in the White House. Waiting 3-4 days is nonsense.1 point

If you ski at Jackson hole you'll probably not want to ski at Blue for at least two weeks. Of course last time I skied at Jackson hole I couldn't ski for a month after...darn thunder woods!1 point

I still canāt believe they said this last year when there was still exposed rebar on that trail. Seemed like a super liability...1 point

I believe the majority of out of state passholders wonāt follow this. I donāt see people like Drew or Root missing out on precious vert to quarentine.1 point

Its been interesting to see how outdoor activities have fared over the summer. Both my girls play travel softball and I coach. It certainly hasnāt been business as usual and there have been precautions put in place, but they participated in practice and multiple tournaments since July and Iām not aware of a single case of transmission related to them. Weāre talking dozens of teams at some of these tournaments and mixed levels of distancing. There were one or two scares that I heard of where a player had been in contact with someone who tested positive off the field, but they self isolated until they could test negative. My kids are in school 2x days a week for short days and knock on wood there have been no transmissions there either. Our HS has had a few. The rising numbers donāt surprise me though. Some of the things we could get away with when we were outdoors arenāt going to fly over the winter. People are just tending to get complacent after get a false sense of security over the summer.1 point

Seems like the responsible thing to do, just wish that some of these tests were quicker results.1 point

I think that is a part of it along with youth sports, indoor bars and dining, protests, rallys and I believe a lot are just a few couples getting together inside somebodies house to have food and drinks. A lot of people are hugging like normal. I saw some guy give a friend a kiss in the cheek when she had a mask on. Weird wild stuff.1 point

Seems to make sense, but this isn't the case in my district. "Has to be" does not replace "is" when you are making a decision as important as children's education. I will add, though, this was definitely the case with my local college and the numbers showed as much.1 point
-
I really wish there was better record keeping and data that would tell us exactly how many cases were likely acquired in restaurants, gyms, theaters, gatherings, protests, grocery store, work, schools, etc. I look at the Covid dashboard for my school district often and there are hardly any cases, most of which are in staff members who picked it up who knows where. Since we are supposed to use data and science for everything, we should be using it to decide what to shut down. Maybe they are doing this, but they should give the numbers to the public so that we can be more supportive of the decisions they make by seeing the transparency in the data.1 point

I rarely eat at chain restaurants, but yeah...I started getting more takeout, crowlers, etc. since this started and still have been doing that like once or twice a week. Another shutdown is likely going to put some places out of business. One of my favorite local breakfast places just shut down. Small space, so the decreased capacity really hurt them.1 point

That's a nice thing to do. my workplace cancelled both the children's christmas party and the regular employee one. Don't care so much about the employee one, but something for the kids would be nice (they usually hand out toys to the kids at the parties, so hooking the kids up with toys would be cool) that's my guess too. doesn't affect me too much. It doesn't sound like the day cares are going to shut down1 point

Please for the love of all that is skiing do not take the flight to Tampa. Utah is by far the most convenient western destination for skiing. A few hour flight, grab the rental car, and be booting up an hour later (depending on flight times of course)1 point
