BMR put an email out and listed the U9 pass price as *only with the purchase of a full season pass* which I didn't see online anywhere. Not that it matters to me but it might to someone. Also, pretty sure my kid has more days on the hill and in Blue's parking lot than Ski2Live has anywhere this season so don't believe it's not a kid friendly environment. Do the girls even realize they could have rode an e-scooter in the lot like GSS?!9 points

You know when parents would say “I’m not mad, I’m disappointed.” Same shit applies here. As someone who trolled this board for 18 years and recently became semi-retired, it’s disappointing watching y’all somehow be unable to end this beef, especially when the trolling is like a 6/10. If he was trolling at a 9/10 or 10/10 I get it, but seeing average trolling cause this much havoc is disappointing7 points

Whew what a great morning! Yesterday was super warm in the high 30’s and sunny. Today the promised storm finally arrived. Webcam said 4” this morning. Been snowing hard all day. The last few days of coughing fits have left my ribs feeling like I was in an MMA match. Popped some extra strength Mucinex, loaded my pockets with cough drops and away we went. I could not believe how empty it was! I guess CB peeps don’t bother unless it’s at least 6”. Skied right onto every lift. Found some well spaced trees that had mid calf powder, they were fun. then the wind picked up and you could barely see 5’ in front of you. What it looked like at the base, you can hardly make out the lift tower6 points

You may not be but humans are social animals, left to our own devices and alone we suffer greatly. I can be as much a lone wolf as anyone, most people bore me terribly but for the last 15 years or so I get to share my experiences with a community of like minded people who are my friends. Real actual community in 2023. One of the best adventures of my life was with persons I hang out in the lot with. Nevermind the everyday, every weekend, year after year after year. Life is made tolerable by those you share it with and if I was dumb enough to have my values so out of whack that a couple hundred bucks is worth more than community then I believe I would be a miserable sack of shit exactly like you.6 points

I'm seeing a pattern here..... What's the point, we all love making turns. Boards, skis, ice cubes, fresh pow coast to coast. Everyone's got personal preferences on the details. 🤷♂️4 points

I'm gonna call BS there. A few years back myself, @JFskiDan @Barb @phillycore @C1erArt etc were all JFBB pass holders. @Schif and a few others were Montage pass holders. @rummy is our Elk guy and guess what? We got on just fine with everyone else in the forum. We didn't poke fun at Blue, Pennsylvania skiing in general (like you do), tailgating or anything like that. And vice versa. Folks were cool both ways. At times we all skied together either at Blue, fost or Montage and had a great time hanging out. Some of the funnest memories at Frost (of which there were many) were the PASR days (the 2 feet those days didn't hurt either) so no it's not "agreeing with everyone else" or "making it all about Blue". It's about not being on your high horse or being condescending, especially from someone who would be first in line to buy a pass at Blue if it fit their budget.3 points

This forum has always had a Blue dominant participation ratio for probably close to 20 years now..... It was more diverse when social media was less popular and I was in fact the PASR CBK poster boy a decade+ ago. Anyhow, where is this parking lot party all this drama stems from. I park by the tubing building because thats where the homies park but I would love to share some safety tips and beverages in exchange for some delicious meats some time. 😋 PS, I come in peace and has no childrens that I'm aware of. 🤣3 points

Such a valueable lesson, I am forever greatful for. I think with all the fighting lately we should get back to the core trip reports and take a refresher on how to standardize condition reporting for everyones benefit2 points

I'm on my way home today but I wish I could stay, 31" and still snowing..... I'll be at blue soon for sure2 points

Almost forgot, coverage was surprisingly good. Some stains showing through but Bear's groomers continue to impress with how they can keep coverage! Was much better today than yesterday!2 points

GSS patrolling the parking lot on a scooter is probably gonna scare kids away... Couldn't have said it better myself. Growing up in the mean streets of Chester County, I understand the importance of making sure nobody be disrespecting our turf2 points

this is in the specific blue mountain forum. This is supposed to be OUR BLOCK, OUR HOOD, OUR TURF. He came right to our neighborhood, threw his flag in the ground, and asked who wanted beef. A few days later and nobody has been able to handle it yet🤷♂️ call him names all you want, but he brought the beef to blue’s front door and nobody has done shit about it “I know you ain’t just gonna let 50 do you like that!? I mean damn, rep yo hood! You hard right? Then pop off!”-50 Cent2 points

Chair 1 (Chets) bumps kick ass if it is cloudy/snowy and power laps there will kick your ass. If the weather is nice, spend some time on the ridge since it has some of the coolest and most unique terrain anywhere. Grab a free ridge cat pass from the pass office, ski Super Nova and Velvet Hammer, hike off the cat and ski Marmot, 13010, Rock Chutes. Hike the other way off the top of chair 9 and ski Super Bowl and Wild Child. If you want a big air with a clean landing, hit Crack Rock in the middle of Super Bowl. Patrol Rock (which is in the picture I posted in the middle of patrol bowl) will likely be completely covered by that point. I am coaching on the 11th, but may be free-skiing there on the 12th and could possibly show you around if interested. If you have the opportunity, ski A-Basin as well. Pali, Steep Gullies and East Wall have some of the best terrain in Colorado.2 points

It may be a parking lot but it is so, so much more. A layperson may only see a generic plain of tightly packed colloidal dirt particles mixed in with water molecules to form a chocolate milk appearance which muddies up the sedans and sports cars making transient use of that space while their owners ride the gravity waves down the Kittatinny Ridge upon magical carpet of fluffy corduroy and granular goodness. But for nearly two decades this seemingly innocuous lot has been the town square for men and women who gather from miles around to share their intense passion for Blue Mountain and revel in tales of glory as they speed past gapers and jerries on the wonderous pistes of Challenge and Chute. If the trees and plants that surround the perimeter of the lot could talk, they would recall glorious tales of MattEdge making an improvised rap song on the communal boom box, or an epic fable of when a group of muscular men met their match when trying to lift a Chevy Sonic despite such a valiant effort. The birds in the surrounding forest would sing folklore of times when tubular meat sandwiches laden with delicious flavorful toppings were consumed after a brawl or two with fellow patrons, where men in tall hats and gold watch fobs thumped their chests and said what a brave charge it was. It is so much more than just a parking lot, it is a national historic landmark and a place to sculpt and erect colossal statues of past and present legendary PASRs to forever memorialize their presence on those hallowed grounds, where herbs dare not tread and where the echos of high fives and fist bumps echo the mountainside as cans and kegs of Yoo-Hoo are consumed to the tune of great merriment.2 points

The downingtown PJs is where my high school reunion that I didn’t attend was located. The wawa right up the road is where a recent car jacking took place. PJs is my go-to for first dates as it’s cheap yet somewhat respectable2 points

I just renewed mine ...The gift card cut it down to $625...Can't really argue with that...Hoping this was just an outlier year with the weather..When Blue is firing on all cylinders it's super fun....A ski area is what you make it....And all the fools in the lot are just the cherry on top....2 points

I won't give money to Vail and tried splitting time between Shawnee and Montage this year to see if it would be worth getting a pass at one and then hopping on the Indie Pass for travel options. But both are too far from the Philly suburbs and it wouldn't be worth the drive. Leaning towards getting this and then the Indie Pass as it's a fairly cheap add-on for travel options.2 points

Looks like nice snowmaking temperatures Friday night into Saturday..perhaps through most of the day Saturday. Seems like saturdays have been the cold day and spring skiing during the week. Like my third favorite Katie Perry song Hot and Cold1 point

Rolled in at 8:40 and hit almost first chair. Really flat light. Rode B up and went right over to backside. Snow was surprisingly nice! Fairly firm and carveable. First run down Broadway was really nice. Rinse and repeat. Grizzly was exceptionally nice. Timberline was very firm and nice. Did the HoChiMinh and it was pretty nice too! All in all the F chair side was a great morning with an absolutely minimum crowd. Finished with some Kodiak runs. ROTD Grizzly, turn right and Coaster to chair. Off before the sleet hit. JADIP1 point

I like the 9 and under ski free at Blue..they’re gonna be playing Kids Bop in the liftlines instead of old 70s and 80s love ballads..I’ve also heard Funky Town waiting for the lifts to open at least twice and it didn’t bring me down.1 point

You can usually tell ham radio operators from their license plates. Semi on topic off topic, there is an AM christian radio station out of Nashville TN that has wreaks havoc with cable operators all up and down the east coast. It's been causing major headaches for our mainline techs in this area since August, but I understand it's been around and on the radar of the cable industry since 1989, lol.1 point

Just counted this weekend 118 days for each on skis with me, which means about 126 days for me skiing with 1 or both.1 point

Ski2 I'll add that I find it extremely admirable and respect that you choose to share your love for skiing with your kids on your way. That's awesome and trust me I get that completely as someone who's share those experiences with their kid. What's lacking is that the mutual feeling of respect for how others choose to enjoy the sport and where they choose to do it at.1 point

Yeah I post a bunch, mostly about skiing and weather, not always agreeing with everyone else and not making it all about Blue. I tryntonadd some value and levity. I do enjoy the ski and weather talk here, but also wish there was a PA ski forum that did not have a Blue loyalty litmus test, but there is not and - yeah - I poke some fun at that. Guess I should not have eaten some food the ~3 times I accepted the invite to drop by your tailgate the one season I was a Blue pass holder, but the point of dropping by was to say hi to you guys. Never had a mission to not be anybody's friend, but nor did I want to spend hours hanging in the lot most times I came to Blue. I generally arrived later than you guys, skied a few hours, then went home to the other stuff in my life.1 point

I ran from one to the other. I had always considered the Gunnison flight being a problem, and i must have been a little sleepy when i thought there was another DFW-PHL flight like an hour after my scheduled flight, but second look showed that was incorrect. i spent a small amount of time trying to come up with plan B, in case i got to DFW late, but the options sucked bad. So, yeah, i was the asshole on the plane yelling at people to get thier shit together and get off the plane or get out of the way. I was going to do whatever it took to make that flight.1 point

At the exit of the VOFS, across the road, in a field seemingly owned by or rented to Elk, you see this sign: You can’t not see it, it’s in your face and that seems to be the point. Note that it’s addressed to owners, renters, guests and their visitors and their families. Effectively anyone owning, living or visiting VOFS. So yes there’s still serious ill-will being projected. I used to deal with and got to know a few well-connected people in the area (none are owners in VOFS), well connected with local banks and builders and such. They scratch their heads when explaining it’s now (after 10+ years of court/legal battles) a personal thing coming from the 80+ year old owner of Elk in an effort to drive down property values in VOFS. They say in all other aspects of business and commerce the 80+ year old is savvy and astute – is/was on BOD of a local bank, etc. – it’s only this isolated thing that seems to be his pet peeve where he channels his ill will. I also heard about the VOFS side from the legal types, the history is there were two or so VOFS owners than adamantly resisted any and all settlement with Elk. These peoples have since sold their properties and now the VOFS is left to deal with the results . Locals say Elk will not sell season passes, locker rentals, etc. to any VOFS owners, renters, etc. It’s day tickets only if you want to ski. This is somehow strictly enforced behind the scenes, to the point of having background checks done on season pass applications. There’s a “you are guilty until proven innocent” vetting process in place. Don’t know about kids racing programs, or employment as instructor or patroller positions. If you are thinking about any of these suggest you deep-dive investigate and get it all in writing before you buy, you want no surprises. Disclaimer, all this is from three years ago. I don’t think it has changed or else the people I know would have said so. That picture of the sign was taken a few years ago but as of last autumn the sign was still there. Edit to add: Trivia, at one time VOFS had one ski trail and one chair lift, last I looked you could see both these from Google Earth images. If I were you, i.e., someone getting serious about buying there, I’d do two things, 1-get a different RE Agent. You discovered what he/she told you about LLC owners doesn’t hold true. RE agents are supposed to know the local market, on this alone the agent you engaged does not, he/she should be telling you all this stuff instead of you getting it from a ski blog. 2- Pay for a few hours of a local attorney’s time and have him to talk on the record to the VOFS BOD and their attorney to clarify what I mentioned above, and (for extra credit) have him contact Elk or their attorney to ask for confirmation of the no season pass, no kids ski programs, no ski patrolling, no instructing, no gate access, no lockers, day tickets are the only thing they’ll sell to you. You want no surprises in a RE transaction like this.1 point
