  1. Nice conditions today, almost as good as yesterday. Freefall was a little marbley, Paradise very good first thing - the bottom got marbley later, NMDW was excellent all morning, apparently they are spraying urea on Razors to harden it up (not many people on it), Challenge was excellent, Lazy good, Main St was soft on top and marbles below Midway but very skiable. The limejacket group had Curzi’s Cabin closed. Making a lot of progress on Switchback, just getting started on upper Sidewinder. A lot of lesson groups and, I think, PSIA certification going on. A really good day.

  2. Getting another big storm. I have an avalanche class in Silverton that starts Thursday morning. We planned to drive here the day before. But the storm is rolling in now and tomorrow is going to be heavy. So we made the executive decision to come to Silverton today and stay an extra day. Once we got to Ouray, we could see the hell we would be driving into. Red mountain pass is not one of my favorites to drive on a clear sunny day. At the top and all the way down into Silverton we were in a white out pretty much. Glad we made it. Just got word that Red mountain pass AND Molas pass from the Durango side will close at 10pm tonight with no time listed for reopening. So not sure what will even happen with this class. Forecast says 1-3 feet by Thursday morning. Towards the bottom of the pass heading into Silverton.

  3. It's a beautiful evening. Orion can be seen in the sky overlooking the quad. Not crowded. Snows ok. Slick in between sugar piles. Not deep sugar thankfully. I'm Probably the oldest person here. In fact Two school group kids on the lift asked me how long I've been skiing...I told the 30 plus years. And they were like wooah. I said I'm in my 40s and they turned around and said that I'm older than their dad's. If that wasn't depressing enough I skied down to seal blasting at the base. Fun night but Idk i don't think night sessions are for me anymore. Happy to be skiing though...but yeah

  5. Went up tonight 6-8 and had a kids night. Our trail list was Pdis, Lazy, and Burma on repeat and all the side hits they offer. Definitely a firm base with sugar but still had a great time. Crowds were mild and around 7 they disappeared almost completely. Nice to have it empty. Guns turned on for Switch at 7 and looked to be the only trail getting touched for now. Is there a gofundme for Blue so they can buy light bulbs? Keeps getting worse and every trail we were on have sections out.

  6. I've only been once, but that mountain owes us something...we were there in march 2020 for the kick-off of Covid! American Style! Short version: College friends trip. As Covid started showing up in the US, we were all wondering what to do. One of the guys is from Seattle - the first hot spot! And he was sick! Doctor said it was probably a sinus infection. We decided to go for it. The snow sucked day one. The snow sucked day two. We found pockets here and there but mostly is was frozen stale crud. At this point, they took the tram and gondi to half capacity. Dumped snow that night and we woke up to 12-15" - our last day of a three day trip. Skiing was awesome. Just insane. Snowed hard all day. They closed the tram. Ride Gondi with party members only. Restaurants and bars were getting squirrely. Two party members decided to pull the plug and changed flights to head home as schools and offices were starting to close. Put a damper on an otherwise perfect day. We didn't get to ride the tram on a powder day, and we all were a little freaked out, so was hard to really relax and enjoy it. Snowed all night the next day would have been even better, but they closed the resort. We had all changed our flights to early departures and all but one got out before the storm shut the airport down. Strange trip. We haven't been back yet but I think next year....

  8. Nice late pm session at the BC...Snow is gradually coming back to decent conditions....at least on the F chair side...The usual slick spots...but for the most part everything was pretty easy to get an edge in...I think they were able to make some snow last night....More people there tonight than there has been in the past...Never really waited too long... @antman12 I look for you every time I'm there....

  9. I’ve skied probably 50 other mountains before and I return to Jackson hole the same time every year…so yes I visit other mountains but always Jackson hole every year except I didn’t go in 2021. I like knowing my way around, knowing where the best snow, best restaurants are..savvy shit…and every trip when I leave Jackson hole I feel like I have unfinished business. Even thinking of returning in late March/early April.

  10. The usual…comfort inn flagstaff (near NAU). The Check in guy (cool dude…gave me a discount last year because the person in the room under me was a jackass) actually remembered me. Nice breakfast every morning, Coffee 24 / 7, fireplace and ski lodgy themed look and feel. There are closer places to the mountain but what you get at the comfort inn for 80 something a night is hard to beat. In Phoenix i just try to find something nice near campus / airport…somewhere in between usually. I think it was the Sonesta suites this year. Going back out in may for graduation with my family and my dad so we’ll probably do something in Scottsdale. Phoenix is whatever. In general I like the valley, scenery, cacti etc but it’s overrun with people and being built up way too quickly. It to mention 100 plus degrees on the daily for 7 or 8 months straight would get old really fast. Northern Arizona is where it’s at. and no Mexican…unless you consider del taco Mexican.

  11. If I worked Monday through Friday,I’d definitely ski nights. Otherwise, you wouldn’t go until the weekend. And sometimes when you have kids, that’s your only option.

  12. Fun night at BC....They were able to get some snow down last night...or at least something that looked the part...Conditions have improved there....Steeper sections had scraped parts that showed groomer/cat tracks in the ice..Some rougher stuff towards the outsides of things....Thought the new stuff would be like glue, but I had no problems...But god damn at the bottom of Grizzly by the trees there is a monstrous fucking bomb hole in the snow.......It wrecked a bunch kids tonight...I think it started as a jump kicker...But everybody was hittin it from all angle and it just grew over time ......If it's there tomorrow I'll try to get a pic...

  14. Blue has to hate it but man is it nice when it's like the days of old. No 84737293 people lined up 30ft in front of the gates so no one can get through and then using two lanes. Most importantly no fuck heads endlessly dicking around in shitter stance with absolutely zero awareness. I think that group was psia, makes sense but most of those dudes are single trick ponies, hence their love of perfecting stupid little c turns and stopping every 20ft to have a confab on edge purchase.

  15. Rode from 11:45-3:45, surprised how empty the place was. Great conditions, did at least half my runs on razors. Kicking myself for not doing challenge after reading y’all reports, but figured I rode it so much on the weekend I’d get my razors runs in. Nightweaver was my ROTD. Gotta reiterate that man the place was empty

  16. Today was le tits part deux, Challenge was even better than yesterday with a little more stiffness it could hold against the ski. When Challenge is good two days in a row its like I must be having a stroke and all of this is in my mind. It's so much fun to truck down that mother getting airs and ripping big arcs. I didn't mind the herky jerkey stuff probably becuase they are already slow with no wax so I was really enjoying upper main and especially NWDW. There is enough room even if you dont want to get booter Crunk but it's soooo nice to formation fly and get a bit blue angels. Le chute continues to be prime and I got one decent launch today. Weather was perfect, great crew and good snow........ shit was a dream on Monday but two days in a row I must be on peyote.

  17. Haven't been here since our kids were little so I figured I'd use my Indy Pass to get a day of carving under blue skies with not a cloud anywhere. Got a ton of runs in off the Tomahawk HSQ which also provided some nice convo with total strangers on the way to the top. As the sun warmed temps to the mid 40s the snow got softer & a little sticky here & there so I stuck to the shady side wherever possible. Base was impressively deep in many places. Machine groomed packed manmade that was groomed fine in most places but a little...weird...in a few others as you can see from the photos- choppy & "gouged" is the only word that comes to mind. ROTD was Delaware. All in all a very pleasant day.

  18. I was there today, skied from about 930-230, I thought the snow was better than yesterday, not so many cookies. Challenge, TCS, Lazy and Chute all very nice. Did Razors once, 1st head wall very slick, but other than that pretty good. I wasn’t going to risk it yesterday, it looked like a glacier. I’m really liking my new skis, probably the best skis I’ve ever owned.

  19. I’ve got you by a few years lol. Kids were pretty annoying. There was a bit of a line and had a few drop backs. Nothing bothers me more than seeing chairs not full . I did a 4-6:45 session and thought the sugar was rather on the lighter side like 50% mixed with Feta . I dipped into the ditch and first couple turns were nice but it turned into styrofoam ice and I thought I was going into the woods. Once the light got better you could open up the throttle. Conditions were better than I expected.

  20. And why we keep returning to Jackson hole is for a chance at this. I’ve had Pow days at big sky and Bridger bowl and Loveland and stowe but nothing compares to the JH steep Pow combo except maybe Aspen lol only cause I had four Pow days there

  21. Hey All, I’m back from a fun morning at Blue mountain. It was in the upper 20s when I arrived at 8:35am. In the house were Atomic Jeff, Johnny Law, Rodney, C1er, Gary and Oz. First super summit safari six pack ride stopped twice, always happens. First run on Main Street was variable, velvety groomed and manmade, then some crispy snow lower. Over to the quad and first nightmare dreamweaver of the season which had pretty nice grooming and some skiffs of new manmade. challenge was so nice, one of the first runs this season at Blue I said this is really good. Repeated challenge about five times. Each run stayed good, mostly empty and it was one of the few runs they didn’t blow on so super consistent. Homestretch and Barbs way had mini cookies. Ended the session with a Raceway to Chute to lower main which was good until lower main which was a little scrappy and then Widowmaker to midway to lower main and midway kind of slick wet manmade. I left at 1030 and the temperature was up in the mid 30s and still blowing on Switchback. I’ll be back on Thursday AM, time to sell a tombstone.

  24. I agree that the tires and Jeep overall is sloppy in snow. I have studded snow tires on it. Hakkapellitta LT3’s. With the tires and in 4H it handles pretty well.

  25. When I started skiing it was almost exclusively night skiing because it was cheape, like $20. I didn't have any season passes. Now that I've seen the light at how much better early morning skiing is on fresh courdoroy, the icy and sugary slopes of night skiing are far less appealing.

  26. This should be our next topic for the next round of surveys that come out. Seems like the trash thing is much better, and i do think the snowmobile thing is better. not great, but better.

  27. T-Mobile is the move. Free roaming on ATT towers, free roaming and high speed data in North America (Mexico, Canada), the Caribbean, and Asia. I often have full bars of T-Mobile 5g when my friends with Verizon have nothing.

  33. I'm not sure that comparison carries much weight TBH. ORDA is just that...a govt funded agency that manages not only the ski areas but all of the Olympic sites etc. it exists because they held the Olympic games...twice and annually holds major events. Denton is a backyard hill in Potter county PA....aka the middle of nowhere. The only event they hold, I'm guessing, is maybe a pie eating contest in the lodge? I'm driving the distance for the ORDA resorts because the all around experience will be infinitely better. Philly, NY, NJ etc aren't doing that drive for a lesser product that they can get in less than half the distance in the Poconos.

  34. Was up this morning, first chair. Conditions were sweetness on the half shell. Not a bad run on the hill. F chair side especially nice. Started to soften up around 11:30. Very light crowd. Expect next 2 days to be the same.

  36. B.East doing a bonus day Sat from 10-5 with $20 lift tix. It will likely soften up that day while VT places will stay hard (but soften Sunday) - so could help round out a nice weekend road trip.
