  1. Drove up to Jay Friday with stops at Lawsons for lunch and Rock Art to break up the drive. As we approached Jay it started flurrying a bit. Since it was still early afternoon we checked out the band at The Bullwheel at the Stateside lodge before dinner. The wind was howling pretty good and maybe a little over an inch had fallen as we headed back down to Jay Village Inn. JVI maple glazed beef tips did not disappoint. Saturday was awesome with 6” or so of light fluff overnight. Got a few fresh tracks and lots of pow bumps and trees. Great snow all over but the best shin deep pow turns were found off jet between the race course and woods, the B netting acting like a snow fence. Lift lines were a bit tough in the morning but thinned out around lunch when the started running the tram and flyer. Sunday was a bit warmer in the mid/upper twenties. Groomers were good with a few slick spots peeking through as the day went on from the rain earlier in the week. You just had to poke around. Mrs S wanted to stick to the more mellow trees, Bonneventure and showcase were a lot of fun. Lifts were maybe a few chairs deep at worst and we probably lapped goat/green mountain boys/ bushwhacker 4-5 times as the snow was really nice. Legs were shot by around 1:30 with a quick tailgate charcuterie beak. The clouds never cleared as forecasted so we never did the planned tram ride. I took a walk to check out the the Jay town XC trails before ‘Bowl time , will bring the skinny sticks next trip. Set off Monday morning for a late morning stop at Berkshire East to break up the drive home. Gotta make that Indy pass worthwhile! Perfect timing as the bright sun, mid high 40’s and low crowds made for some soft smooth groomer cruising - country club skiing ! Reall cool area with some windy rolly polly trails and some nice pitch. Very enjoyable lunch stop to round out the trip.

  2. Hey All, I’m back from another quick AM session at Blue mountain the true mountain. I arrived in the valley at 835am and it was 46 degrees under mostly sunny sky’s. In the house were C1er, Bethlehem Ford crew, Atomic Jeff, Rodney, Oz and a handful of others. First run was on Razors which was moderately firm cord and a root roller around the middle got me and AJeff..a few minutes later Blue paint was sprayed to mark it. They are getting ready for Super G races so some areas fenced off as well including right before the last drop. Challenge had the best cord on the hill, softer than razors but still fast, skied challenge a second time then skied Main Street which had super soft cord on the top and bottom was already spring crud. Skied Main Street again and most of the cord was gone, that run is probably a slush pit by now. Coming soon was decent and ended the session on Switchback and I got a little bit of air off the top roller. Peaced out at 10:10. All in all a fun spring session and I’m glad I got to ski most of the fresh cord…big time melting today as the temperature is currently climbing through the 50s. Should be interesting to see what’s left Saturday..I expect a lot of skeet and bare spots by then after three more days of melt.

  3. The stars are shining bright it's not crowded the snow is soft like a baby's bottom and the weather feels like the tropics. Anyone who knows me knows how much I love skiing in this. Only problem is it's way too early for it and the snow is melting like the wicked witch of the East. That said I'm going to make like Sheryl Crow and soak up the Sun tonight before the rains come tomorrow. Enjoy it while you can I guess right?

  5. Arrived 8:15 47° and cloudy. Started on Delaware and worked our way from left to right. Everything was groomed and skiing nicely. Lackawanna was the only trail with bumps and they were pretty nice. Hit it a bunch. Went in for Beer and food and when we came back out someone turned up the thermostat. 57° . We skied the Pine tree shadows as much as possible but coming of Wissahickon to sunny Snowbowl was like jamming on the brakes. One last run on Lackawanna was a workout, all the slough piled up in the troughs and stopped my momentum. Nice day all in all.

  10. I actually showed a few Porsche’s and even sold one. I purposely pronounced it “Pore-shhh” as I knew it bothered them. They couldn’t help themselves and corrected me every time.

  13. Was a fantastic morning for Dan’s last day. Got in line at the Queen at 8:40 and since it’s a powder day there was a small line. Visibility from the top was terrible, snowing hard. The viz on Paradise is always bad on cloudy days. So I tried my usual trick and went right down to East River. Much better down there, and narrower runs w trees on the sides so they help. For me, I felt it was the best I have ever skied in powder. I was playing it conservative as I wanted to break the streak of bad voodoo and season ending injuries while Dan is visiting. The snow was heavy-ish and work to push thru but really really fun! Nothing had a lift line. No action shots as I didn’t want him to have to wait for me. I realize the picture game has been super weak. But I have some girls visiting and we usually stop and take more pictures of each other so will do my best to step it up soon. Chris Tomer just put this forecast in his blog 😍😍

  14. That wasn’t a shot at Jeff in particular. It was a shot at anyone on earth who changes common things just to seem edgy. Kind of like Madonna and Johnny depp having British accents, despite being from Michigan and Kentucky

  15. It literally fucking says “kastle” on the skis. There is no way to pronounce it other than “cass-el” unless you are a pretentious person who wants to seem fancy
    3 points
  16. People abandoned mantras so they could appear fancy and use a goofy pronunciation of the word “castle” stop kidding yourselves, this isn’t Europe, the correct pronunciation is “cass-el”

  17. Right now I'm 50/50 on March. If I go that'll be a quick trip...maybe 2 ski days since we're also going in July. Arizona is quickly becoming home away from home. Plan is to make it just home at some point.

  18. What a fantastic dayat CB! Couple inches overnight and snow for most of the morning really filled everything in. I really wanted to step up my picture game, but my Iphone set a new record and was dead by 9:30 am. Snapped 2 pics from the first lift ride. ran the usual laps with a quick lap off the north lift before meeting Barb back down at East River. After we split up again i ran back up to the north lift to get a few more fresh laps there, then went back towards hard face for something a little more challenging. Big drop to get in, but rewarded with some deep turns. Down through some trees, and back to the Paradise lift. Didnt quite make the route i was looking for that @RidgeRacer and i took that dropped us down right on top of Rambo. It can get pretty interesting back there, its rocky and cliffy, and its hard to navigate, so i moved onto the frontside to finish out my day. Over at horseshoe springs i was rewarded with some untouched on a small steep face, after the trees, but had to hoof it out again. Very low crowds today, actually less then yesterday. Finished up on the frontside which wasnt crowded, and could easily find some nice soft snow on the sides of the trails. snow pics from Barbs after a phone recharge. Usually the mountain view. Not so much today quick session tomorrow then off to the airport.

  21. Challenge is really nice. Maybe ROTN. flat and carvable in the middle with bumps on the side. Main is also sweetness. Barney's are large and in charge. Festive atmosphere tonight. People singing on the lift. Susudeo by Phil Collins blasting at the base. Over dressed tonight sweating my ass off

  30. Everything everyone likes about elk has nothing to do with how they run the place. I'll say it a 1000 times but you take what they do there and move it to blue or cb and peeps would be furious. They have their shit maybe 1/4 as together compared to the others. They get by because they are in the middle of nowhere, if you drive to North Dakota and ski Huff Hills the snow is pretty great too.

  31. Maybe Taco Bell or KFC. Ate at Wobbly Barn last night and wao $50 for surf and turf with tip ... They charged $3.5 per iced tea refill which was totally uncool

  32. That would be radical. Camelbacks more northerly location and higher elevation makes for a winning combination when it comes to quality spring skiing and riding.

  34. Nah, I kind of want snow. As much as I enjoy sitting outside right now at work, we have only had a handful of a few winter days. I have a feeling it's going to be a cold and snowy April. But what do I know...

  38. I like Nuts on Clark from the Chicago O’Hare airport. I’m more into savory than sweet so I like the cheddar popcorn but I will fuck with Johnson’s caramel popcorn or even cracker jacks if available.. Are you still trying to get back to Arizona snowbowl in march? I remember you saying airfare was about $450..that’s decent considering your lift tickets are already taken care of. Plus if you stay at the same place multiple times, they sometimes greet you with a welcome gift. It’s happened to me before at a holiday inn express..thanks for the bottle of water and bag of pretzels..not even kidding..you rock hardcore yo.

  39. Fantastic day. Started with actual winter conditions, ended with spring slush. Skied everything I wanted to a few times. First time doing Superstar, was rad; and some trails I didn't do back when I was a noob. Skied 9-3:40 with about 30 minutes or so of cumulative breaks. I'm pretty toast now, time for SUJOPO

  41. Very short session for me this morning. Fighting a head cold and the visibility was pretty bad. Started at Silver Queen but it wasn’t loading and we heard them say it would be an hour. So we had to skate back uphill to the Red Lady Lift. First run down Paradise and I couldn’t see shit. Took it real slow. Told Dan I was going to go down to East River to see if it was better down there. It was a bit. Took a couple from there then met Dan. I decided to just call it a day, didn’t seem to be my day. Dan took a few pics before his phone died. I only took a few also. Snowing hard now and will continue all day

  42. Back relaxing at Barbs place after another fun day at CB. Switched up the routine this morning to hit the steeper groomers off Silver Queen first then over to run some fast laps off Paradise. Dipped in some trees to find some really crusty stuff with yesterdays warm afternoon temps. Went down to the trees off East River, which were better but getting firmer every day. Bumps are still decent, but kinda depends upon what side of the trail they are on. Lunch break around noon, and thats when the clouds rolled in and visibility was poor at best. Clouds yielded snow, went back to the frontside to the trees at Horseshoe Springs, which skied well, but there are a few rocky areas to avoid. Ended up in a gully that was up in either direction to get out, so worked off lunch doing that. Low crowds today, no Eagles jerseys. Looks like about 2" fell in the afternoon, and hopefully the overnight snow produces.

  45. @saltyantthere used to be a steakhouse called the sirloin saloon in Rutvegas that had an elite salad bar. It had to be at least 25 feet long. Me and atomic Jeff went there with phillycore once and when he ordered his steak they asked him if he wanted the small steak or the large steak and wow that was a dumb question. Id say always get the larger can always bring a doggie bag or share it with Root and Sibhusky
