  1. Hey All, I’m back from another morning session at Blue mountain the true mountain. I arrived at the lower lot at 7:17am and it was 36 degrees at the base and 42 degrees at the upper entrance, mad inversion Yo!! In the house were Atomic Jeff, JFDan, PARidge, BenM, Mute, BooBear, TP4, Mixilplix, Dirtwolf, MBike Mike, Nastar Glenn, Bethlehem ford crew, Gary and many others. There was a little snafu at the opening gates with only the VIP OG six pack readers working which had some doing the limbo or scrambling. That put me Behind the pack and PARidge was in the front and got first tracks on Challenge which looked pretty bad..I started on Lazy so was like 6 chairs back so skied solo. Was a nice session and almost every run was decent but not the boner doner of tuesday and Thursday mornings. Lazy was pretty smooth and semi soft, nightmare to dreamweaver was decent groomed, Coming soon was semi soft on the top…I enjoyed Widowmaker to the chute the best with some serious hero snow…lower Main Street was thick and stiff so not that good. I found Paradise to have the smoothest and most hero snow and skied that twice and a paraweaver as well and did challenge once and it was a mess up top and middle wasn’t bad. Temperatures rose to about 50 and the best thing was that there weren’t any crowds…I was following Blues ticket sales and they barely sold any tickets the last two days. If we get a couple inches this week that should help them make Johnny cash for presidents weekend. Fun parking lot, had a couple beers and ready for more of the same conditions tomorrow AM

  2. Today was fun. probably the most noticable inversion that I can remember. Bottom was semi cold. The top was warm. Yeah first run on challenge was bad but razors was closed and I figured if it was bad it would only get worse so hit it now. Probably not the move as NMDW was light years better. Everything else was good, just sorta bumpy all around. Fun morning

  3. Day 29. Continuing to get snow. Things are much improved. Most of the ice is sufficiently covered.

  4. Seeing some dirty snow on lower Upper Main Street. What's up with that?

  5. Oh man, riding up the quad first thing was like getting off a plane in Florida in the winter! The warmth smacked you right in the face. Going over NMDW, the grooming was impressive and rode that first thing. Wow! The two turns were a hoot and didn’t really see the mini booter halfway down until I was in mid air. Barney’s needed a bit of slipping to scrape off the crust to let the warmth turn them hero which it did after about an hour. Ended up lapping them until lunch. Everyone was complaining about how outta shape we all are from not skiing bumps all season. After lunch headed back out for a few more mashed potatoes runs. Right side of CS had some good snow and Lazy was thick and deep with it. Legs are pretty shot from today’s conditions.

  6. Haven't been here since our kids were little so I figured I'd use my Indy Pass to get a day of carving under blue skies with not a cloud anywhere. Got a ton of runs in off the Tomahawk HSQ which also provided some nice convo with total strangers on the way to the top. As the sun warmed temps to the mid 40s the snow got softer & a little sticky here & there so I stuck to the shady side wherever possible. Base was impressively deep in many places. Machine groomed packed manmade that was groomed fine in most places but a little...weird...in a few others as you can see from the photos- choppy & "gouged" is the only word that comes to mind. ROTD was Delaware. All in all a very pleasant day.

  7. I skied Spring Mountain last night more for the nostalgia than the skiing. I learned to ski there and try to get back once a year but it's been a few years. Conditions were dust on crust but edge-able. Lift line on the west side was ski-on or a chair or two wait. I had heard that they had an All Weather snowmaking system. This was the first time I saw it and it was blowing out "snow" at 45 degrees. I think it is essentially a sno cone machine inside that blows the shavings out onto the slopes. The production was low and it appears that it would take a long time to cover a slope. When I left around 7:00 there were a lot of kids in well organized group lessons on the main slope. Good to see that they are doing well. SMI All Weather Snowmaking Video.MOV

  8. It was like opening the oven door going up the lift, redonk inversion. I thought everything was pretty good today though it either needed to be 20 degrees colder or mad sunny. It was soft enough piles formed quickly but to heavy to really mach through. NMDW continues to delight and Challenge actually got pretty ok once it warmed up some. Raceway/widow/curtsi/whatever was very good from the start and after enjo said how good pdis was we confirmed it was quite smooth. I don't think it's supposed to get below 40 tonight could make for an extra special superb owl Sunday.

  10. Last week the right side edge was almost non existent. Was skiing the edge with @MattEDGE and a rock got a hold of him and threw him down. Lots of rocks were mixed in with the sugar. Outta the box and into the rocks!

  15. I was here last night with some friends. Couldnt make it anywhere else after work because everywhere closes so early at 8 or 9 these days. Snow was actually very nice surface all over and the snow cone machine was spitting snow out the tube all evening despite being 40s. The base was thicker than expected even on the west side. Not much of a line anywhere but it was fairly well patronized mostly with kids and the new ice rink seemed popular. For 30 bucks the place is entertaining enough for a few hours with the west side open and it's a lot easier to drag your infrequently skiing friends there than to get them to drop $100+ elsewhere Ya gotta be entertained with how the whole place seems straight out of the 70s too

  16. It was kind of cool to go out on the smokers patio at Wobby waiting for entrees and burn a doob. All the workers said was, we're glad to know now your good and hungry! 🤣

  17. We checked out Garlic, Jax, Wobbly Barn, not to much going on there midweek. Met some cool people on the ganjola rides from locals to tourists we rode around with. VT seems to have an extra cool vibe now that they went rec legal.

  18. I just refill my wawa cup. My morning ride is close to an hour so I just make it some days. I made a relief system for when I fly I call it “ Polish Bagpipes “ Rubber roofing material bladder with a 1” vinyl hose, I haven’t filled it yet in a 6 hr flight. 😁

  19. That’s the yuge area roped off. You can fit fifty buses or 100 food trucks in the space 🙃 I’m old and park close to the mens room. Maybe I should hold off on the coffee?

  22. Work was up my butt the last two days so got out this morning with c1er. A little hard in spots first thing but generally hyper soft super carving snow. Widow, le chute, lower continues to donate boners. NMDW was also primo but in 5 tries I couldn't get a clean release, no matter the gap I built I was picking up strays but you so nice to do high speed arcs to air in the soft. Busy from the drop, nothing insane but lots of racers and doodle turn types. While the weather is hyper nice it's gotten to the point where it is February and should be colder.

  25. The usual…comfort inn flagstaff (near NAU). The Check in guy (cool dude…gave me a discount last year because the person in the room under me was a jackass) actually remembered me. Nice breakfast every morning, Coffee 24 / 7, fireplace and ski lodgy themed look and feel. There are closer places to the mountain but what you get at the comfort inn for 80 something a night is hard to beat. In Phoenix i just try to find something nice near campus / airport…somewhere in between usually. I think it was the Sonesta suites this year. Going back out in may for graduation with my family and my dad so we’ll probably do something in Scottsdale. Phoenix is whatever. In general I like the valley, scenery, cacti etc but it’s overrun with people and being built up way too quickly. It to mention 100 plus degrees on the daily for 7 or 8 months straight would get old really fast. Northern Arizona is where it’s at. and no Mexican…unless you consider del taco Mexican.

  27. Enough VT resorts already bought up, please don't let this one get ruined too! Can just see paid parking, pay to use the cabin, half the lifts closed mid week to save money.

  28. They do seem to be ignoring TCS. I’ve had my ptex gun out more than once, but I think it was mainly lower Paradise and Barbs Way before they took the features down.

  29. Not according to Slim who posted on Blue’s FB that he took a core shot with brand new skis Right side TCS has been rock city all week.
