Fun day…945 -12:15 The drive really really really sucked, Coming soon main st , Barneys was primo. Someone did the old main st lift line lol. Early runs were a workout, the snow literally stuck to the top of your skis . I was stuck on the quad for 10 minutes I was thinking the power was out. Turned out someone knocked off the top safety and a patroller fixed it.10 points

Was on the snow at 915 after a sporty drive. The hill up to the mountain from the south had people spinning out at multiple spots. After watching that carnage, I elected to park at the top for my first time this year. Managed 8 runs before heading to work. Thicc, wet, and deep. NMDW and CS were my favorite. Razors had a single track out from the bottom since it was so slow. Lots of people on Switch and other off trail tracks. Crowd was way smaller than last snow storm with the roads messy. Fresh tracks all over to be had. Might be back tonight depending on the crowd.10 points

I would like to give Blue a little credit today. They had employees there, and both lifts loaded basically on time. i dont think they fucked anything up today. Nice work Blue!8 points

I would say their claims of a foot are valid, based on what i walked through to get to the quad.5 points

3rd civilian chair on the quad surrounded by snowboarders and dudes on race skis. 3rd at the headwall of racers until the 2 skiers in front of me ate shit. If you want to know what mini root keeps in his backpack, today the answer is, snow. very fun, but its some heavy ass shit, but im so glad i didnt go to work today. Switch is open, no grooming underneath, and thats not really my thing, but maybe later. on a beer break. Its chunder now, so that should be fun. Im hoping the headwall on coming soon has the volkswagons parked on it. Heading there now. i would say there was a foot of snow. Good base building snow so this will help lots.5 points

If you can get to blue or anywhere….go. This storm panned out. Looking at maybe 10 down already and still falling. I didn’t take off so I’m living vicariously thru those that are skiing today.4 points

Maybe I'll ski Tussey tomorrow night as I'm working nearby. I think they got one or two inches of perder. Get stoked!!!3 points

Wet and heavy it was but if you pointed it straight and kept your tips/nose up you were float knee to dick deep this morning! Switchback was nutty pointing it and busting through the snowmaking piles like pillow drops. JADIP. Fresh lines all the way till about 11am with no people until the afternoon. Uppersiderwinser was deeeep, not a scratch on my base either.3 points

We went for a family night session and it was so empty. There were a few groups of kids but we had the slopes to ourselves. Soft push piles, similar to Sunday. Very nice.3 points

$12.75. She asked if I wanted toppings and I just said to load me up. It was pretty good but I admit I couldn’t finish it. 😂2 points

Top 3 PA POW day of my life. Literally rode onto the lift with no people and cut fresh lines till 11. Deep enough that if you fell in spots you were stuck unless you got into someones line to get momentum again. The few Jerrys who made it out early were parked in pow struggling, leavin the freshies untouched.2 points

Thinking Roundtop will be best bet tomorrow AM as they were closed today with a power outage and won't get as cold overnight2 points

I had some work to do in the morning, but the leg felt pretty good after yesterday, so I decided to stick to the plan and do a couple lower mountain runs followed by some mid mountain runs to ease back into it. I got out on snow about 1 today and went about an hour and a half to 2 hours on 7 runs. Mostly went off of Bravo and Gatehouse lifts. Only 7 degrees colder today than yesterday, but a huge difference in snow consistency. Yesterday was corn and today was more sugary. There were plenty of sugar piles and icy spots to be had, but for not having any natural snow in a week plus, I thought the conditions were standard for February in New England. There was a good crowd for a Monday. Trails of the day surprisingly were Downspout/Domino Chute and Valley House Traverse. The traverse, while relatively flat, was pitched well with snowmaking this year and wasn’t skied off due to the pitch. I stopped in the middle of it and still made it across with plenty of speed. Quite an enjoyable little section with a great view. All in all, a great day, and tomorrow I’ll try to make it to the top and test the leg out on some t2b runs. I guess I’ll stick with the PT and home PT. It’s made a huge difference so far. Pics below:2 points

Whew, just finished up a hut based AIARE 2 course ( the last in the series). I learned so much and all the snow science is really fascinating. Prior to this course I only used the CAIC website as a resource. I realize now that there are so many factors to look at and consider. I also have learned that there are ways to mitigate exposure even on higher avalanche days. Red Mountain Pass was closed for about 40 hours from the storm. So the first day we did companion rescue practice in a meadow behind the town of Silverton. At a certain point in the beacon rescue you have to get out of your skis. Postholing to mid thigh every rescue was really exhausting. We were finally able to get up to the hut that evening. Day 2 was a light tour and mostly digging pits. Day 3 was definitley a “full value” day. We toured into US Basin. The weather was sort of sunny to start then got stormy. We observed some remote triggered smaller avalanches from a distance. We mapped out a tour plan from Cal Topo and set a track in virgin snow to get there. Roughly 100cm. The ski down was very fun. Had to transition to skins at the end which is always somewhat annoying. today was a day of just fun touring as we officially met the requirements of the class yesterday and requested to just take off. We are both dead tired. High altitude sleeping, bad eating due to low appetite poor sleep and I have had enough. Currently at Ouray brewery waiting for my giant burger.2 points

It took me 2 1/2 hours from right above Quakertown. If anyone is familiar with 309 where it turns in to I-78 West always a cluster there. Then my escape route onto 145 there also a cluster. Cars off the road everywhere. Can’t understand why folks in small cars with low profile tires even attempt to drive in this.1 point

As wet as the snow was and became as it warmed up. It will be great for dat base as it shall stick around and the guns will be fired up on top!1 point

All the melting snow will be really grate for the snow making retention ponds. Maybe the ponds will be full enough to get Upper Sidewinder open by February 31!1 point

Keep Us updated, I remember when you talked about getting like $60 A day to buy food on the road and free breakfast at hotel, cheap lunch you have enough left for a legit supper like a hoagie from Walmart plus other snacks.1 point

Yes - meant Sidewinder, and I am optimistic now with the natural base and forseeable snowmaking temps overnight they will get it. Makes me happy when the mountain is at 100% and a plus 10 when little dip ins are available all over the place. Might get there tomorrow to enjoy.1 point

Just got back from an afternoon sesh at Blue The True. Place was empty, Main was pretty chopped up as was Lazy. Freefall and NMDW were the better options for some turns. Spring like but no puddles to be seen. Forecast keeps improving and the stoke levels are rising for tomorrow.... Ski ya'll in the morning!!1 point

Just Jeff and I that I saw this morning. Nice conditions on Razors and TCS, bulletproof and flat. Marbles on Challenge. NM/DW and lower Paradise in good shape. Lazy and Main got pretty soft and cut up fairly quickly. Lot of skid marks on Main. Chute and Midway had a lot of uneven groomer marks but still skiable. Hopefully not much rain before the snow.1 point
