  1. 02/27/2024 - Blackcomb/Whistler Day started out bluebird but wasn’t forecasted to end that way, so we planned on getting up to 7th Heaven as soon as possible and also take the Peak-to-Peak tram run. Since the run from Blackcomb back to Whistler is closed, we need to end the day in Whistler. Up Excalibur, Excelerator and Jersey Cream and high-speed lapped the Jersey Cream on perfectly groomed packed powder with a skiff of new on top. Bailed out of Jersey Cream as the lines started to lengthen down to the Crystal Ridge Express. Rider’s Revenge woods had some nice snow, so we lapped them for a while. Clouds were on the horizon so we took the P2P across and had lunch in the lodge. After lunch we waited for one of the glass bottom teams and took that back across. That tram is a feat of engineering. Took the 7th Heaven up and lapped in. Snow was mixed soft with some firm bumps beneath at the top. Found some better snow in the trees just above the lift base. Made our way down and up the Catskinner to catch another P2P back to Whistler. It was long about 3pm, so we high speed lapped the Emerald lift until 4 then made our way back to the ranch. Dinner was at The Mexican Corner. Not bad but nothing to write home mom about. Supposedly a dumping tomorrow.

  4. I wish they would rotate that and the hip at the bottom of central park about 15d CCW so us old skate /surf heads could hit side and lip slide it like a 1/4 pipe wave !

  5. Was watching radar and hoping the rain moved through after the heavy stuff was done but no dice. Fog was thicc on the top half and rain slowed but didn’t quit. Fam skied an hour before we were soaked through. Maybe 15 people on the hill and 12 of them were lapping the park. Snow was nice and wet but becoming dirty with the warmth. Couple skeet spots on Switch poking through and Razors was closed. No practice going on though so not sure why. Challenge is quite dark in the middle.

  9. https://www.media.pa.gov/pages/DCNR_details.aspx?newsid=1039 potential "new" touring area in PA. 2500 acres, with logging roads, 1300 vertical foot pipeline cut, and some old ski trails. I did read one article that mentioned opening it up to skiing, biking, and hiking. I would be neat if they allowed some glade clearing like some of the touring associations do in new england.

  11. It's a hip feature not a wedge or tabletop. Your meant to take the lip and land on the skiers left side transition of the jump. You guys play on that butter pad "snow block" feature? Its crazy fun, figured some of ya'll might like just taking speed straight over that one.

  12. Well this might be a rare season we have a few weeks of nice spring conditions as opposed to cold at the end. I’ll take the spring skiing

  14. 2 runs down Barneys, the first one was without rain and the second with. First one was great and second which was the last before bailing not so much. I was amazed at how slick it got with just a few minutes worth. Did Coming soon Ditch twice which was awesome 4 runs but a lot nicer than expected. I was driving down Blue Mountain drive feeling a little disappointed but saw a bus inbound ,bad timing. I wasn’t planning on going up today but got a job done early. A couple places have dirt bleeding through but good coverage although the usual seasonal brown tint.

  17. Hey all, I’m back from another fun morning at Blue mountain the true mountain. I arrived at the lower lot at 830am and it was 38 degrees and 46 degrees at the upper entrance, mad inversion yo under mostly sunny sky’s. In the house were Atomic Jeff, his work friend, Bethlehem ford crew, Rodney crew, Oz crew, Pops, Eaf and a handful of others. Second civilian Super summit safari six pack to Main Street which was soft soft coed on the top and stiffer below. I split up with Jeff and friend cause didn’t feel like waiting..then did challenge which was a little firmer then Main Street but smooth. Then Widowmaker to chute and chute was just starting to corn up. Then off to razors which was super smooth cord on the left side..just a little soft. coming soon also good and the in run was full on corn. I returned back to the chute and super nice corn on the far right. Then hit up Razors again followed by sidewinder which had a nice mini ditch on the lower left..was nice having an empty run on that since it’s super popular with the goobers. Returned to the Chute again and passed Pops on Raceway and ended my session with another sidewinder. All in all super nice exactly the conditions I expected but less people. I’m thinking they may close tomorrow due to rain. JADIP

  27. Beautiful bluebird day here at elk. Spectacular semi soft spring like snow. Sunshine and not a cloud in the sky. Cool to see that they have a modern ticketing system now although the kiosk would scan my barcode so had to go to guest service. Unfortunately the quad above tunk is down so they're running that slow ass double. Either way I'm in no rush today. Always like coming up here. Especially on days like this

  29. I bet the bumps were nice. I bet razors stayed nice….raining here in the A for the last hour or so. When I drove away at 10:45am it was 55 degrees and I put the AC on in my car. I should have skipped the upper body under armor and just worn a t shirt under my jacket I’ve been pretty good about not getting fast food much this ski season but I was so sweaty and gross after skiing I got chic fil a…was elite as always…I just got the 8 nugget combo that would be a light snack for @Dirtwolf their buffalo sauce is Buss’n

  33. 02/26/2024 - Whistler Day started out with some flurries falling and much colder temps in the village which locked up all the melted from yesterday, but with some snow overnight we heard some avy bombs going off at the peak. Took the Fitzsimmons 8 out and the. the Garmonzo up higher, the snow was perfect packed powder with a few inches on top, glorious. However there were patches of ice lurking that were taking some down. Lapped the Emerald lift area a bit and made our way down to Harmony to try to get some goods up too but they announced avy work wasn’t done and didn’t have an open ETA. Bailed down to Garbanzo and the skies cleared so we went up to the peak. Plenty of good snow to be found ip here. A whiteout squall rolled in that sent ip to the lodge for some lunch. The place was still packed at 1:30pm. After lunch ran the Glacier bowl T-bar for some fun. Then it was back up to the peak and down to play around off the Harmony and Symphony lifts. Made one last run ip to the peak to do the Peak-to-creek run, but it was closed part way down. Dinner was at 21 Steps with the rest of the tour group. Nice place and good food.

  34. Pretty bad. Lots of the lower runs are barren. Riding with locals said it’s the worst they’ve seen it in like the last 15 years. They also have said this week is the best conditions Have been all season so far.

  36. This morning was really fantastic. No real lift lines, not much traffic on the slopes, sun shining after the first few lift rides, good grooming, freshly blown ditch, chatty boomers, mild temps. Quite enjoyable.

  41. Finally made it down to Whitegrass WV Sunday. This place is awesome. The realest of deals. 4 1/2 hr drive each way was worth it but I think I will get a hotel next time. Elevation is about 4300ft so just about as high as anything in the East and storms dump snow from the west in this spot first-nothing is taller till the Rockies. Before it was a nordic area it was a downhill area so there are some old school downhill runs you can hit in addition to the nordic trails, the trees, and some meadows. The higher you go the skinnier the trails get and the more alpine it looks. There are three summits on the trail system as well as access to trails in Dolly Sods and neighboring Canaan Valley and Timberline downhill areas. At the top is as its name Bald Knob would suggest, epic views. 25k of trails are groomed out of 50k in the immediate resort, and a number of them are fairly steep across 1200ft vertical. Tracks set on the lower trails and up the three mile run to the mid summit. Well maintained glades are all over the hill with untracked powder everywhere. At the bottom they have a system of fences set up to catch the snow blowing across the valley and keep it skiiable. The best part though is just that the vibes are absolutely unmatched. There were probably several hundred people there and everyone was having a blast - Hooting and hollering through the woods, hanging out by fires at the little huts all along the trails, chowing down on delicious food in the shack of a lodge at the bottom with all the rental boots hanging from the ceiling around the wood stove to dry off. And there were people of all ages including little kids just ripping through the woods. People were sliding on the whole spectrum of equipment: cross country, telemark, AT, splitboard, sleds, snowshoes. Everyone was so happy and friendly. Granola paradise A place that is good in every meaning of it. I havent been anywhere else quite like it.

  42. Woke up at 4am for a bathroom trip and glanced down the hallway towards my dining room and thought I saw a tom of snow on my deck railing. I laughed and convinced myself that I was half asleep. Woke up at 6 and looked out. ??? No way! I went outside and guessed a foot. 26° and lightweight stuff. 8 Or so plowed out and it was over the top of my 12” plow! Decided to head a few miles south to a nature reserve where I hike from time to time. I was surprised to find only 6” Plan B a few miles North to Emmaus South mountain nature preserve where I toured probably 8 years ago. I was a bit disappointed to find a lot more brush than the last trip. I headed east a little more and found some more friendly area. It cliffed out and I had to detour. Only did 2 miles, the snow got considerably heavier than this morning.

  46. My company does not allow hot beverages..after the McDonald’s lawsuit, my attorney has advised against it. Also I saw big snow is in New Jersey..I didn’t know there were mountains in jersey. Thought it was all pizza shops and salt water taffy stands and fist pumping..gym tan and laundry..and I have a confession to make, salt water taffy is overrated..it looks cool in those 1917 machines but it just doesn’t deliver..sorry not sorry.
