  1. 02/29/2024 - Blackcomb Woke up to a mostly clear and cold morning with another few inches of new snow overnight. Got in the Excalibur line that stretched back to our hotel, but was moving pretty good. Midway up it decided to stop for like 15 minutes. Lift issues seem to be everywhere. Up Excalibur and right back down through some gloriously soft, knee-deep chunder. Back up and down to the Jersey Cream but we could see people loaded on the Crystal Ridge, so hoping to evade the crowds, we headed down there only to find it packed. Back down to Jersey, which was stopped, then moving backwards to unload people, frustration set in and some broke for other lifts down low. The Glacier just opened so we got in that line and waited as it too was having some issues. Came down through the glacier in dick deep powder as Slim found out when he lost a ski and had to search for a bit. After a short lunch break, we headed out via Jersey. We could see the top of 7th Heaven, so we headed down to it. Up 7th and down into some trees with crazy deep and untouched snow. Lapped that and headed back to Whistler via the Peak-to-Peak and then down to the village in a nice snowfall. Dinner was at the Amsterdam pub for a God-DAM burger and poutine, delicious! Turned out to be a grate after storm ski day with lots of deep fresh to still be had. Slim (top dot) fighting to find his ski…

  2. I worked late yesterday and was feeling a bit tired, but decided to go for a morning session. Made tail end of Quad open , mostly racers. I took a high speed run down challenge. I headed for Main Street second run and was greeted with Barney’s beautiful 2”” refresher about as good as it got this year aside from natural snow. Stayed on Barneys till 11ish . It was starting to get scraped off in a few places, but still skiing really nice. They seeded some bumps on King .

  3. Blown away. I wasn't expecting what's here tonight. No brown or bare spots that I've come across yet and almost spring like conditions. Slick in the middle... Loose on the sides. Razors is closed. Coming soon is fun. Glad I got tonight in

  6. Just got back from a short late afternoon sesh. Mostly lapped Come Around to confirm I dialed in some tricks I was working on yesterday. Crowds were light when I arrived at 3 but kids kept funneling in, however they started the other 6 pack. Snow I thought was still pretty good. Ventured over to Dreamweaver and thought the snow was great on Lazy, and Sidewider than I hit while over there. Big grass spot on Sidewinder but thats to be expected there. The new 3rd jump in NMDW is no joke. The first two arent bad but that 3rd one looks unforgiving. All in all JADIP at Blue The True. I'll be easy to spot this Spring.

  7. I rode this morning as I had to get out after a long week of actually working. Bfg crew was there otherwise alot of ikons. Soft with some stick where they blew, hard where they didn't. The chute lip is even bigger and first launch I was 33% rolling the windows down. Lazy I thought was the worst but as the sun baked things up it was all improving fast.

  8. It's amazing how good man made snow can be, isn;'t it? We skied man made snow over bumps at montage last weekend. So edgeable and smooth...snow making has come a long way.

  11. It’s a wasted run for me most of the time. I like lazy mile when it first opens for the season for the variety of it and a few times it does have the best snow but it’s way to slow for my liking unless the snow is lightening fast and also smooth…I definitely had a few times this season where it was a foot deep thick marbles and cookies..good thing I’m an agile mofo..just straight ran that shit with my hands on my knees BenM style..

  13. Really no connection. Letterman switched networks to CBS and started broadcasting from the same theater Ed Sullivan had used - but there was no connection between the shows and Sullivan's weekly variety show had been off the air for decades before Letterman's nightly talk show began broadcasting from this theater. All of this is only tangentially related to the awesome concert we will be doing tonight.

  14. 69 news this morning said they expect the rain to be mostly sporadic showers and drizzle, so unless it's raining pretty hard when I wake up, I'll be there both days. Gotta get them in, not many left

  21. Atomic Jeff said it was OK, I believe him. Dime sugarcoats stuff, TP4 is a realist, Momskeez isn’t picky about conditions as she enjoys switchback with cookies and is happy just to see some birds of prey and Eaf is argumentative. Why am I up at 3am…no idea I must be lonely lol

  22. 02/28/2024 - Whistler Up at usual 0-dark thirty, went to look out the window at the forecasted deluge and wondering how we’re gonna stay dry until we got up to the snow line, much to my surprise when I opened the window to see easily 12” or more snow on top of everything and still puking snow. Definitely better than rain, but this is gonna be crazy. We debated going out and standing in the already long lines, not knowing if they were gonna start spinning on time or wait for the bull rush to subside. We decided to let the bull run and we’ll pick up seconds. With the way it was snowing, that wouldn’t be terrible. Out for a walk the lift lines snakes through the village nearly back to our hotel. Stopped for a breakfast sandwich and checked the lines on the way back to find them all but gone. All the alpine lifts weren’t running for obvious reasons and the 2 main gondolas were only serving to mid station, so it was up the Fitzsimmons and then ip the Garbanzo into a snowmageddon. Figuring visibility would be better a little lower, we headed down to Creekside through some of the deepest snow I’ve ever been in. Freshies were still available if you stayed next to the trees. Snow down low was already getting sticky and some needed to drop a layer, so we split up. We headed up the Creekside and then up Big Red. Amazingly people were coming down the lift line without abandon, but we knew what was lurking just beneath the new snow. Garbanzo lift seemed to be the sweet spot holding mostly nice snow and just a little sticky at its base, so we lapped it until we had enough. Not the longest of days, but definitely the most fun skiing through boot, knee, thigh deep snow. Dinner was feee nachos on the club.

  27. That would be cool, Re name it Superstar. That would be quite a buzzsaw for lip launchers . I met someone at Cannon mountain who got rekt by a mogul field. He lost an edge and went into a field at 40 mph. Busted up his ribs pretty badly and took quite a while to recover. Challenge was okay but there were a bunch of newbs on Falls . I returned for a late afternoon session and Barneys was haggard with turf in places and icy spots ☹️ Took a few runs with @mbike-ski Coming soon ditch was meh , I popped back out and couldn’t set an edge in one spot. Main st was not bad.

  28. Nice pictures..they should seed big moguls on the chute..that would catch a few people coming off the lip off guard. How was challenge?

  29. I think Lazy Mile is the most difficult trail on the mountain. Always in really, really crappy shape, somewhat narrow, and beginners everywhere. One even collided with me a few weeks ago when I made a run with @Johnny Law.

  30. It was pretty good today, albeit a little crowded. An event with racers continuously going up and down the Quad side didn't help. Somewhat surprising is how well the mountain is holding up, especially after the yesterday's report of bare spots - no bare spots today, not even brown spots on Sidewinder, there wasn't even a hint of spring, so white and cold it was. Still I think that earlier this week conditions were better, softer and more pleasant to carve. Today most of the morning it was riding on a frozen base, rattling on small hard bumps and holes left from wet grooming, and was there even a field of blue ice at the very bottom of Paradise? Lazy was clearly the worst with its minefield closer to the sharp right turn, and after trying all the trails several times I eventually settled on Widowmaker->Midway->Main being the best route down. Not crowded, not frozen, nice snow, less people to get back on the lift.

  39. Was excited to get out for some Leap Year laps last night and rode from 6:45-8:45. I went with very low expectations given the precip and followed by low temps but was disappointed with conditions being 3.3 outta 10. ROTN was the spine skiers right on CS and lapped that a few times. Everything else was inconsistent and not fun. The trails with guns blowing were pumping out wet heavy garbage on lower elevation terrain. Saw lots of carnage from people hitting the freshly blown shit and stopping dead in their tracks (including myself). Was rippin' down lower Main and just before slow signs hit a patch of that wet heavy velcro snow and the skis slammed on the brakes but the rest of me didn't get the memo. Ended up ass over tea kettle and plowed a 30ft long trench with my helmet right through one of said slow signs. Oh well. Looking forward to some nice spring skiing.

  43. I was pleasantly surprised today after yesterday’s deluge. TCS, Lazy and Main were beautiful with the guns running all day. Raceway, Chute and Midway all very nice. Razors closed, but I wouldn’t have gone down it anyway, a total sheet. Didn’t bother with Challenge, either. Sidewinder has some pretty big skid marks, NMDW just ok. Switchback had lots of cookies, but I was ok with that because it’s my favorite trail. Nice tailgate, and made our mandatory check on the eagles. All in all Blue did a great job after yesterday.

  45. Rode from 9-1 today. Least crowded day of the year, worst conditions of the year, and windiest day of the year. A very fun time though. Snowmaking cannons were blasting on a bunch of trails. Definitely cool to experience the once in a lifetime opportunity of riding on February 29th. It was like the hailie’s comet of ski days

  48. 02/27/2024 - Blackcomb/Whistler Day started out bluebird but wasn’t forecasted to end that way, so we planned on getting up to 7th Heaven as soon as possible and also take the Peak-to-Peak tram run. Since the run from Blackcomb back to Whistler is closed, we need to end the day in Whistler. Up Excalibur, Excelerator and Jersey Cream and high-speed lapped the Jersey Cream on perfectly groomed packed powder with a skiff of new on top. Bailed out of Jersey Cream as the lines started to lengthen down to the Crystal Ridge Express. Rider’s Revenge woods had some nice snow, so we lapped them for a while. Clouds were on the horizon so we took the P2P across and had lunch in the lodge. After lunch we waited for one of the glass bottom teams and took that back across. That tram is a feat of engineering. Took the 7th Heaven up and lapped in. Snow was mixed soft with some firm bumps beneath at the top. Found some better snow in the trees just above the lift base. Made our way down and up the Catskinner to catch another P2P back to Whistler. It was long about 3pm, so we high speed lapped the Emerald lift until 4 then made our way back to the ranch. Dinner was at The Mexican Corner. Not bad but nothing to write home mom about. Supposedly a dumping tomorrow.
