More "pics from this weekend" than "pics from today"

Rode the "Tour de Tahoe" this weekend, a clockwise loop around the lake (72 miles). Seriously one of the most beautiful rides you could imagine, with breathtaking scenery and some amazing roads. Sweeping down from emerald bay towards homeward, holding 40+mph for miles was one of the all time bicycle moments for me. I rode a little on Friday and saturday too, just to get a feel for the area.

First picture from Friday evening on the beach (south lake)

Saturday, heading towards Kirkwood (in the distant background)

Monday, recovering in the lake...

All in, an amazing weekend, highly recommend this ride if you ever get the chance. Not very tough and lots of fun, huge participation (>2000 riders) and very well supported.

what was your time?

looks real nice. theres too many places in the US i want to live.

4 hrs and 16 mins.

beautiful pictures! That lake looks so clear. Uphill or not, 72 miles is a long ride. Nice job

the lake is unbelievably clear, they say the "dinner plate" test (where you can still see a white dinner plate on a rope) goes to 140ft.

I like men

thanks for the excellent contribution to the thread...

As I have stated several times, I'm up here with the fam looking at a prospective condo purchase. I briefly talked of the leaves starting to change yesterday. Took some pics to show the change beginning.

After checking out the condo, we decided to head up to Waterbury to Ben & Jerry's and the Cabot annex store via German Flats road. We took a detour and went to check out Mt. Ellen. It was a tale of two areas for sure. While Lincoln Peak is really flourishing and they are adding upscale condos and base area improvements, Mt. Ellen is just trying to keep the status quot. The base lodge and ticket booth (which is separate) are in great shape and seem to be well maintained. In fact, they were fixing the steps to the lodge as we watched. However, the steps leading from the first parking lot to base lodge level are gravely in need of repair. Weeds were coming up through the steps and the paint was coming off. The railings were also falling apart. The most disappointing thing was the driveway. It was completely chewed up, very bumpy, and very much an eyesore. I understand that it gets less attention from the management since there is very little condo development available, and their eyes are set on the much more lucrative development potential at Lincoln Peak, but c'mon guys, it wouldn't take that much money to spruce it up and take a little pride in it. Arguably, Mt. Ellen has some of the best terrain available. Anyway, here's some pics:

A few pix from my trip up last week, managed to get in some fishing on the North branch and the Brewster, BBQ duckwings at the Brewster Pub kick ass, burgers are great as well. Monday and Tuesday mornings hovered around 34 degrees at 6:30 AM out on the deck, weather was perfect. I cranked a fire from 1PM until 9PM on Monday, it stayed cool enough outside to make it worthwhile to warm the house up a little.

For Ridedelaware? - as promised foliage pictures from the poconos.

Seems like the east and west facing gutters of my house had the most leaves in them...maybe there is something in the farmers almanac that will have some insight as to what that means for this winter. Overall it seemed like pretty low numbers, i was anticipating more.

here you can clearly see a nice handful of leaves, mostly oak, i believe. they are pretty uniform in shape, and i would say they are pretty small. They are fairly dry, and will definetly crumble if not handled with care.

i have no idea what the leaves have to do with winter, other than they fall every year as predicted, but it was 43 degrees Sunday morning in the poconos.

Ridge Racer that is beautiful!!!

Why thank you. I hiked 4 miles, waded through 2 stream crossings, battled a black bear, spotted mermaids while paddling on the Lehigh, shot 3 times in the air after I found the signing bush who ultimately led me to the invisible swordsman who ultimately led me to the changing leaf who professed that we will get a grand total of 63.257 inches of snow this season!
