  1. This has been one of the best ski days I've had in a while. Everything is on point and the crowds are low. . Sun is shining post storm. Awesome

  3. Arrived at the staff last night after a pit stop on campus to drop off some stuff at my kids apartment. From there I-17 north was a breeze. Part of the fun always of coming to Arizona is driving north on 17 and watching the endless cacti and desert scenery turn into the greener mountains and valleys of the Verde Valley and Prescott and ultimately into for and pine trees and jagged peaks covered in snow. Speaking of which...there's plenty of it in town. Everything on the mountain is officially open with the exception of the upper bowl which I have a feeling is also "open". Awd is required to get up Snowbowl road and thankfully the good people at Alamo had an awd vehicle waiting for me. Shout out to the comfort inn in Flagstaff as well for being not only an awesome ski chalet type place but for also knocking $20 a night off my room rate simply because the person in the room under me is a complete tool bag who's annoying the shit out of the front desk.

  4. Most unexpected change of plans today. Instead of spending half a day in Bern and then proceeding to settle in Lauterbrunnen, we figured, oh why, don’t we have a full day train ticket, and wouldn’t it be a terrible waste to spend it on a trivial one way trip? Why don’t we take an impromptu detour to Zermatt while we’re here?? And so we went! Boarded 8am train to Visp along with a substantial company of other skiers and boarders traveling in about same direction, changed to Zermatt and in two hours total finally found some snow! Train arrives to Zermatt station, and then it’s an ugly electric bus or an even uglier taxi that takes you to the lift. We lucked out and found a locker available (were told to always reserve in advance should we decide to rent them again), dumped all the stuff there, grabbed skis and poles and spent the rest of the day on the slopes. Great decision! Zermatt’s high, weather was calm and sunny, snow was great throughout the day despite a late arrival, only problem was the longish chain of trains on the way to Jungfrau later at night.

  7. It's soooo fucking boring when there is no skiing so I'll gladly take some fast grass just to do some sliding

  8. I told a friend JFBB would never host the Cardboard Classic ever again, and if anybody was going to do it, it would be Montage. Enough about how smart i am, this is just over the top smart on Montage's part. Have the Cardboard Classic, and then a music festival. you can do the sled race for free, but if you wanna see some live music, you will need to open up the purse strings. Allow MMR to advertise for you, and also bring a few thousand people up to the mountain that day. Well played Montage. Well played. https://www.montagemountainresorts.com/mountainfest/#tickets

  11. It was a nice spring day noon until mid afternoon at least, and very few people - parked in the first row. Soft snow is better than ice. Bummed F lift wasn't spinning but oh well. Hopefully they are able to make snow this weekend, they will almost be starting over. Bare spots got a lot worse over the course of the afternoon, the top especially is pretty patched together.

  12. The valley cam is back, I think Blue is gonna make it, just barely. I took screenshots of the vista and tubing cams earlier and will do another one tomorrow afternoon to compare the difference.

  16. Posted up at EWR. Plan is to drive to Flag tonight, ski tomorrow, Thurs and Fri, drive to Phoenix to drop off my kid and meet with friends for dinner Fri night. Snowbowl has gotten about 60 inches over the last few weeks. Looking like sun and over the next few days however. Should be fun.

  17. Probably a good move on their part to preserve snow. It's supposed to get colder this weekend

  19. Allentown temperature= 60 Mount Pocono = 53 Scranton = 60 Binghamton = 56 Saranac lake = 35 and rain Montreal Canada = 35…gotta got to Quebec City to get snowmaking temps at 30 degrees a measly 9 hours north. Phoenix is 65 Flagstaff is 34 I’m guessing PaRidge needs a light jacket tonight. Up in Boulder it’s 32 and 16 degrees up in Silverthorne..ABasin has finished snowmaking for the season. Their water lease ends 12/31 but Mother Nature will power them through until June or July. Up in Jackson it’s 21 degrees and Bozeman is a mild 26. Jackson is usually colder than Bozeman despite being south due to less urban heat/lack of an interstate and being 1500 feet higher. Whitefish is 27 degrees and again another 1500 feet lower than Bozeman. Every 100 feet of elevation gained cancels out being many miles farther north. That’s why the southern Appalachian mountains receive more annual snowfall than many New England cities.

  20. Was up there for some laps after work....It's pretty bad...You really had to pick your way through some stuff...The pics don't do it justice...I'm surprised they were even open...No steeper terrain open...Mostly park stuff....I have a lot of good memories from there..

  21. Doe was my learning hill. I vaguely remember the PBandJ sandwiches and the little lodge you had to walk up the stairs to. Oh and the rope tow.

  22. Of course. It worked out though cause I got to explore and go places that she wouldn't ski this morning. My legs were wrecked so the groomers now are nice. Upper and lower bowl and log jam are excellent still. I told her I'm not doing it tomorrow though. Lol

  23. $200 for 2 days worth of lift passes, 2 show passes, and a drink ticket, and rentals really doesn’t seem too bad if you’re the average person going to this (which is the crowd this usually draws in)

  30. Seemed to be right around the same time 🤔 Maybe they don't want people seeing snow pushed under the new lift for the grand opening.

  32. No snow! No snow! The only snow Bern sees these days is on the wall of a sports shop. Feels great blending in with city folks while hauling skis in the streets and wearing a ski jacket with helmet swinging in the back. Feels even greater pulling the skis up the stairs to the fifth floor because they don’t fit in the lift, not horizontally, not vertically, not diagonally. I’m thankful to the girl at reception for not asking about if I’m going to water ski in these or if I got of the train a little too early. But, well, if you forget about skis, not a bad place to hang out for a day at all…

  33. Finally got my first day at Bear of the season yesterday for a quick 90 minute session. Nothing of note that hasnt already been posted by MG or Mixi. Going to be a ROUGH next 2 days. Hopefully they can survive till we get some snowmaking temperatures back.....although im only seeing lows of 26/27 degrees so hopefully they can fire up those nights. Gonna be spicy 🤕

  34. More value just keeps getting added to the pass every minute. Shit I'll buy two every year if it would keep your negative ass away.
