@ JAC waiting for departure. Snow King’s website says open at 9 but I had feeling lifts don’t start spinning at that time. Could see the lifts not moving at 9:01 so I switched to the touring set up and got a $8 Uber. -15° with real feel of -28° but didn’t feel like it, especially when moving. Only had an hour and made it about half way up the hill without seeing anyone. Great way to start the trip home.13 points

Got there at the usual start time, everything on the east side was completely groomed out and frozen cord. Started to soften up around 10, and by 1230 when I left the top was just starting to get sticky and the bottom a little slushy, but all the slopes were still pretty firm with a little bit of soft stuff on top. Alternated between freefall, razors, and Dreamweaver. Really couldn’t say which one was the run of the day because they were also nice. Never made it over to Main Street, sunny and warm, although it started to cloud over a little bit later in the morning. Very light crowds, never had to wait for a chair. 22 runs this morning.9 points

Probably the best groomer day I’ve had at JH. The -29F start probably kept people away but it was quite pleasant. The place was completely empty. At 10:30 the Thunder lift line had nobody even standing around. The liftie look bored. The snow was 11/10. The boys let them run a bit today. Was nice to really crank some turns.8 points

January 30…day 6 of 7 Hey All, I’m back from another fun day of skiing at Jackson hole mountain resort. Me, NMSki and Atomic Jeff left the 49er at 755am and NMSki dropped off his luggage at the Cloudveil where NazarethSkier Jay was staying. Got to the mountain around 830ish and it was a ghost town. It was -29 in the village lot and I put my boots on as fast as BenM. On the way to the lift I stopped into the ski shop and bought a balaclava for myself and bought Atomic Jeff one as well $82 for both including tax, better than getting frost bite. Got in the gondola line around 850am and just a handful of people. My vape was frozen and I finally got it working on the lift and a guy asked me if it was weed and I said yup you won’t some and he told me not to vape in the gondola so I didn’t. Took a couple rip van winkles at the top when Jaybird was snapping pictures. Down Amphitheater to thunder and it was that 80mph cord JH is famous for…it was so good and so empty and a pleasant change of pace after two giant pow days and a lot of chowder yesterday. Up Thunder and did a repeat of Amphitheater and was so good and empty that we did a third run on that before taking a beautiful Grand to Sublette. Up Sublette and Bivoac was groomed and it was the most please soft packed powder imaginable. Then skied down R trail to south pass traverse to Thunder. Up Thunder and this was NMSki and NazarethJay last run as they were going to take an Uber back to town around 1030. We went down Laramie which was so good. I was going maybe 40-50mph on the right side and NMSki game flying down the left side easily exceeding 60mph woooo. We exchanged goodbyes and then just me and Atomic Jeff. Up Sublette again and another Bivoac run over to Thunder. Up Thunder and skied upper amphitheater to Nez Perce traverse to Casper area. Up Casper lift and skied under the Casper left then left over to lower Kemmerer which was ungroomed and up the Teton chair. At the top skied a beautiful Crags run on two other people on the run I skied past onto the right side of the Apres Vous terrain to the AV lift. Up AV and a screamer on the right side again right to the base. Ended up with 11 runs and just shy of 20,000 vertical feet in two hours. You really rack up the runs with all but one lift being high speed combined with about 1/8 of the normal amount of people. It was so empty that our last of 5 times up Thunder, there weren’t any people in the liftline, not even anybody waiting for their friends like zero people crazy. Today was the best bluebird groomer day I’ve ever had at Jackson hole…mainly due to excellent snow and no people. My toes were a little frozen as well as my nose…it was super tough getting my ski boots off. We then went to the Mangy moose and shared nachos with beef and a pitcher of Wilson IPA, $56…we each left $40 and peaced out and now back in town relaxing. I didn’t take many pictures due to the cold but will post what I have. Now it’s about -10 in town. Tomorrow should be slightly warmer.8 points

Great day today after a couple big powder days. Everything was soft and smooth and the steeps were in beautiful shape. Didn’t expect the headwall to be open so that was a serious bonus, and a little exercise as well. Got to ski the expert chutes for the first time ever and it was so good we repeated it (although there was a very spicy traverse to get there. Tomorrow will be a brief AM session before heading to the airport.6 points

Just came back from a night session with Becky. It was a balmy 42 when we pulled into the lower lot around 545, which was surprisingly full. We stuck with the quad for tonight and on our first ride up homestretch looked like a sea of waves… not bumps, but perfectly parallel waves. It was like wet sand, but honestly it wasn’t awful. Lower paradise had spots down to dirt and glacier but the piles between it were honestly fun. Crazy mile was just that… wild with groups of 15-20 boarders at a clip. Had to pull over a few times to make sure the little wouldn’t be a hit and run. Only annoying part was the perpetual black hole on lazy, perhaps they can borrow a colored light from tubing since they can’t seem to be bothered to replace the bulb that’s been out since the start of the season. Playing in the push piles is typical Sunday night skiing (especially this year), overall fun night.5 points

Was up there tonight for little over an hour...Fast soft snow cone stuff.....Only steep open was sasquatch...Which is getting some bumps on it...and while the snow was good there are a ton of brown/thins spots....Hopefully temps go in there favor and they can get some snow down....Fun night again and the place was empty...Went inside to use the bar restroom and the lodge still looks pretty good for being 20 some years old.......3 points

For those interested in reading more about the big storm that just dumped on Jackson hole. Those throwing around that this was all time don’t have short memories. This was the largest 48 hour total since 1974-75 https://www.jacksonhole.com/blog/50-in-50-hours3 points

Probably not this season, I've still never been. A fellow PA patient got me back into riding after a long hiatus sick of CBK and getting life together. Would def love to in the future though. Picking up the early bird pass for Blue as soon as it's available and currently riding Thursdays from open till 1 on 4 hour morning tickets until then. See ya on the hill and stay safe out there!2 points

This is spot on accurate. He was so sly about it too. It was 8:45ish... I saw it and just kinda thought why's BenM wearing a fanny pack filled with aluminum foil? Never in my wildest dreams could I imagine what would come next. Johnny Law took it one further, said and I quote "yo dude...what do you got there?" ....Then came BenM's epic and unforgettable response. A response that that'll be etched into my memory banks as long as I live and breathe... "anyone wanna hotdog?"...as he held his foil wrapped trophy high in the air, grinning from ear to ear. Frankly...It was an honor and a privilege to be apart of it.2 points

Awesome day! Anxiety of waiting on avy mitigation for 1.5 hours had me bugging but it was so worth it. A few sections of the hobacks today was some of the best big mountain powder skiing I’ve had. Could hear @AtomicSkierhooting and hollering and when I came around the corner I knew why. Pretty sick back to back days.2 points

1/28/22…Day 4 of 7… With 27” new in the past 24 hours and 42” in the last 48 hours, stoke and the powder panic were off the chain this morning. We left for the hill at 7:25 and we’re booted and suited up before 8am…about 25th or so in the gondola singles line and waited and waited some more as the avalanche bombs were going off above. I had about three safety meeting while waiting and then sometime around 1045 we were finally given the all clear…only teewinot, sweet water and AV were operating and within a second all lifts open. We shared a gondola with quite the rowdy crew…one of the guys took two hits off my vape and they were drinking tequila out of a flask. Amphitheater was deep like a foot to a foot and a half of new snow and as I rounded the corner atomic Jeff was searching for his pole..luckily it was found fast. Thunder was about a full corral already as people were approaching thunder from Teton, Casper and the gondola. Up Thunder to the left side of Grand again which was untracked..not quite as deep as yesterday..only some face shots, not on every turn. It was like I was fucking two supermodels yesterday with another sitting on my face it was that good and today was like only fucking one supermodel with the others playing with each other. That’s until we took the Sublette chair to the Hobacks. Yes the Hobacks, what can I say except 2700 vert that’s never seen a groomer, about a mile wide. The Hobacks today was like I was the star of a reverse gangbang..each section got better and better. One area just got better and better, Atomic Jeff was snapping photos and when I passed him I just kept going for another two dozen of the lightest and deepest turns of the day..bottomless effortless delight, the kind of snow I’ll be telling my friends grandkids about one day. Still not as epic as the 22” day in 2016 but darn close. I stopped and took some pictures 2/3 of the way down then the last sections was just swaths of 1+ foot deep powder right to the cat track. It was off seeing NMSki off the cat track floundering in several feet of snow but he was able to make his way back to the cat track. I shouldn’t talk as I fell on my ass in the mens room earlier. Today was not a big vert day but it was super quality..people go on week long heli ski trips and don’t get the amount of deep powder we got the last two days. Apres ski today was at the Mangy moose and it was a fun time and we had nachos, I had a prime rib cheesesteak and 4 pitchers of beer were consumed and Nazareth Jay even got a free Pacifico draft that they brought to the wrong table and the waitress flirted hard with him, she either had daddy issues or was looking for a big tip..not just the tip lol picture time2 points

Some other saddleback pics. Had a run in with a pine tree. Saddleback is a really awesome place, unfortunately the stuff off the top like Casablanca never opened. Apparently the traverse is super sketchy so when its icy, they shut it down. Favorite day was Burke, maybe because I didn't know what to expect, but the snow and trails were awesome2 points

If you’ve ever been on a lift with the bar up and a roll back occurs it’s enough to convert an atheist. It happened to me at Hunter in the late 70’s , the person I rode up with insisted on keeping the bar up. I grumbled a bit but relented. We were at the highest spot possible when the lift jerked to a stop and proceeded to roll back about 50’ which swung the chair forward and violently backwards when it stopped abruptly. The angle of the chair I would say went past 45° Scared the crap out of me !1 point

What kills more people per year skiing…head injuries or lack of safety bars on chairlifts? Yet helmets aren’t required…1 point

Excellent Tetonic blue sky corduroy pictures. Now we just need a dinner receipt that's at least $600 and this will be a 5 star thread.1 point

There's plenty of perder skiing out west. Maybe you, me, and Grilled Steeze can find a grate deal on a Frontier flight to Jackson Hole and we can find a cheap room with an unheated outhouse, complimentary sugar cookies and hot cocoa for sustenance and a triple bunk bed, though I get top bunk.1 point

So far I've been gifted a McDonald's chicken sandwich, part of a baguette, many burritos and now hot dogs. I'm not counting the usual like beef jerky or chocolate and it has to be on the lift. I think I could eat crab legs on the red chair at magic but I still say the hot dog may be the best lift food.1 point

January 29th 2023 Day 5 of 7. Hey All, Im back from another session at Jackson hole mountain resort. No more powder panic today as there was only 6” new in the last 24 hours but only 2” overnight. We left for the mountain at 755am and it was around zero degrees under mostly cloudy sky’s. We took a different approach up the mountain…Sweetwater gondola to Casper to thunder groomed on the Grand…up Sublette and NMSki, Atomic Jeff and Nazareth Jay hiked the head wall and me and Mute did a Bivoac woods run which was very soft not untracked and then over to thunder and some pow below expert chutes and did that twice and met the boys bottom of Thunder. Up Thunder and I split up because I didn’t want to ski tower three so went over to the Casper area and found a good bit of leftover pow and also over to Apres Vous for more of the same. At the top of Apres Vous, atomic Jeff text me they were halfway up Sublette and taking last run and I timed it perfectly taking two more runs and literally was walking back to our $40 parking space in the village lot. Now finishing up lunch at the Snake river brewery.1 point

Last night was f*cking terrible. Boot high sugar piles on ice. Brutal. But I got 6 runs in with my niece so all good 🥰. Very proud of how much better she’s gotten since she first started. Look forward to going with her again soon with better conditions. Turned around and did double duty and was up this morning from 845-11 with cuzzie. Little better than last night and was only gonna get better as it got warmer.1 point

1/27/22 Jackson Hole day 3 of 7 Hey All, I’m back from another fun day at Jackson hole mountain resort. Me, Atomic Jeff, NMSki and Mute left for the mountain at 7:25am…arrived around 8am and were in line by 8:15am and were about 12-15 in the singles line for the gondola. Due to avalanche control work, the gondola didn’t open until about 9:50am as there was 16” of new snow as of the 6am report and several more inches. Up the gondola and Amphitheater which at first was knee deep then even deeper…was more of a weekend type of crowd with a lot more females than normal and high school kids playing hooky..the stoke was higher than cheech and Chong in Up in Smoke. People were letting out some serious orgasm noises…oh yeah oh yeah yewwww woo woo hee haw hee haw lol. First run I had prob 30 face shots… Thunder wasn’t running yet but started a few minutes later and went down the left side of Grand where all the Perder pictures were from. It was truly fantastic..prob 20-25” deep is my guess untouched. While fun, it was a workout and I was using muscles I didn’t even know I had. While I’m a very competent powder skier, it’s not often I get to ski snow this deep. Up Sublette and ten sleep bowl to the cirque and only a handful of people had been in this area. Again deep deep deep the line NMSki and Mute took further left was pretty epic and I was a little more to the right which ended in a gully choke full of..no not nuts..powder. Instead of skiing amphitheater back to the Thunder chair which was now completely filled with people and I’m sure totally skied off, we went left a bit down Nez Perce traverse then right into the south facing steep slopes leading back to the Thunder chair. It was mostly untracked but not as bonerific as Grand and the Cirque. By now Thunder had a really long line… Up Thunder and back to far left of Grand again, while not untracked like 45 minutes prior, probably half my turns were untracked so still alot of face shots and powder poofs. Got to the Sublette chair and it wasn’t running due to high winds near the top. We wanted to take Sublette to get the the hobacks but that means the Hobacks will be even better tomorrow as most people who take the hobacks take the Sublette chair as it has 4 times the uphill capacity as the Tram. We then took the south pass traverse to the north Colter ridge area which was mostly untracked but getting skied up…I didn’t have a fall but I had a bit of a spin out where I ended up facing uphill with my skis in a reverse snowplow..I’m an agile mofo so no issues getting turned back around. Then near the bottom my legs were really starting to feel it so I sat down for a few, text the boys that I’d meet them at the bottom and took a few pictures. Then skied the rest like a fucking champion..for a moment I was Owen Leaper skiing that lower mountain hippie bowl or Jean Claude Killy…union pass had a massive line..went to the base and was about noon…me and atomic Jeff decided to end on a high note and NMSki and Mute took one more run off the Gondola. You all might wonder where was the star of the trip, NazarethSkier Jay, woo jay had a nice leisurely breakfast and took his hotel shuttle to the hill and perhaps got even more fresh than us off the Teton lift and Saratoga bowl..while eating lunch at the Alpenhof he even FaceTimed AtomicSkier and he was so giddy it was like he got the golden ticket and didn’t even fall into the chocolate river. These are the best of times in Jackson hole. It wasn’t as light and dry as the 22” day back in 2006 but we skied way more untracked powder today and it was deeper. Tomorrow might even be deeper than today. Today was one of those days where the afterglow will last for days and weeks. I chose a good time to come here I will say as I picked the dates. A week earlier or a week later would be totally different. JADIP1 point

Both flights were delayed about a half hour but both my bags and I made it on time. I planned on taking Uber to the hotel but from when I landed until I got my bag, it went from $35 to $85 for the trip to town. One of the no wait taxis outside did it for $40. Room was ready early so quick change and headed to redeem my Indy pass. Full view of Snow King from the hotel room so had to do it. Little bit of a struggle for the ticket agent but we were on the snow by 1245. Lines were non existent and I had the Gondy and quad to myself. I didn’t even know they had a backside but the Sun Bowl had the best snow and ended up there for half of almost two hours I got to check it out. Milder terrain on the back side and slower lift but some trees and ungroomed to play with. Got scooped by Atomic after SK and he even had a beverage waiting.1 point

1/25/23…Day 1 of 7 Hey All, I’m back from a fun first ski day at Jackson hole. I was up super early which I love cause I can just relax and catch up on the internet. Went to bagel place, got a toothbrush from the front desk cause I forgot mine and at 755am me and atomic Jeff loaded up the Giant Jeep and picked up Nazareth Jay at his hotel. Despite a semi late arrival we were second or third civilian gondola. Temperatures today were in the single digits rising into the teens at the base under cloudy skies with a few flakes initially becoming party sunny. First run down Amphitheater and so good best run of the season so far..2” of Perder on top of groomed…The thunder lift was down so we skied over to the Casper chair and took a run down Casper to black tail to Sundance to the base which was super good. I usually don’t ski that terrain so early in the day so was a real treat. Since Thunder was down we took the Tram to the peak to access Sublette terrain. We had a walk on Tram but it was a full one and very uncomfortable. The most contact I’ve had since my rubdown by security yesterday at Newark airport. Down Rendevous bowl which was ok conditions..semi solid giant bumps with a little fresh..first bumps of skied of the season to Rendevous trail to the Sublette chair and Jay and Atomic did Bivoac. R trail wasn’t skied off yet as it was before 10am. Up Sublette to ten sleep bowl to the cirque to amphitheater to thunder chair which was running. First time ever on the new Thunder high speed quad and you exit the lift sideways which is progressive, I guess because the unloading area is compact. Then cut over to below the expert chutes which was filled in and yielded some fresh to Nez Perce traverse, as I was crusing along moderate speed some goob turned right into my path uphill blind…then a few seconds later his buddy did the same thing and nearly collided with atomic Jeff..that’s a pretty dangerous move on their part and they’re lucky they didn’t get destroyed. Then back into Casper area up Casper and down wide open to the Teton lift then up Teton which was the busiest lift and the day with maybe a 1 minute liftline then down Crags run towards Apres vous which was super good so went back to Teton again and did crags run again then to the base of Apres vous and finished out under the top of the Apres vous lift to St. John’s to buck to the base. Nice lunch at Osteria, I had very good Bolognese and an Arnold Palmer. Today was a fun ski day, wasn’t really a pow day although we skied some pow but it was very pleasant. Right now Mute and Ryan are at snow king and NMSki is probably charming the front desk lady with his sparkling smile. I didn’t take many pictures but I’ll post what I took. Looks like the real snow arrives tomorrow afternoon through Saturday night. Probably about 15-18”+ total.1 point

The flight was smooth we landed around 1230 MST and baggage came quick. We have a baller Jeep Grand Wagoneer…dropped Nazareth Jay off at his hotel, went to beer store, checked into the 49er and room wasn’t available yet as it was only like 130. Then picked NSJ at his hotel and went to the brewery for a late lunch. I had Nachos and a Zonker stout..then dropped NSJ back at his hotel and me and Atomic Jeff while we have standard rooms they in the quieter back building with both exterior and interior entrances. I’m so happy everything travel wise was smooth…usually I have a lot of pre trip anxiety and I actually slept decent last night. Here’s some pictures.1 point

I am always thinking at some point the bottom has to drop out. I'm not talking just about skiing but the general idea that there are no limits to making the absolute most money possible but at least so far we all just keep dancing faster and faster.1 point
