Did an afternoon session at Eldora today. It was a sunny warm day with no wind. So rare for Eldora. Started out on the front side. The snow wasn’t great. Hasn’t snowed in a while and things were pretty scraped off. After 4 different runs in the front I went to the backside to see if the snow was better there. And it was a bit. Corona trail was pretty scraped off as it’s the main one on that side. Then I did a couple on Muleshoe, that snow was much better. Did one more back there forget the name then called it a day. No lift lines whatsoever. I miss Crested Butte. Lol4 points

Drove up last night to see friends and family and then stayed at the Holiday Inn Express in Dickson City. Ate dinner at Burrito Loco Cantina right down the street and it was pretty good. Table side fresh made guac and got the spicy pork tacos. Boo got tacos el pastor. There was a Primanti Bros within walking distance and I wish I knew that before deciding on Mexican. Ate the free hot breakfast at the hotel and then 30 minute drive to Elk. Upper lot was full so had to boot up and take the shuttle to redeem the passes. Standing in ski boots in corrals on the back of that truck is probably the most technical thing I had to do today. Learned they had the state slalom championship going on once we were on the snow and it was packed with racers. That combined with those fixed doubles helped us decide to stay lookers right and lap the quad. Those doubles reminded me how much I don’t miss dragging a kid on the MS/Burma chairs at Blue. Spoiled with the detachables now. Snow started thicc sugar but soften up with the temperature. Everything was running good and max 1 minute wait for the quad. For the amount of cars we were surprised how empty it felt. Did everything on that side besides Upper Tunkhannock. Skiers right looked pretty good when we so the boys on it Did 8ish runs and went to the Winter Garden Restaurant for lunch. Margarita flatbread was terrible but buff chicken dip and chili were pretty good. Caught up to @mbike-skiand @NastarGlennfor a couple runs on Tecumseh and Kickapoo after lunch. The kid is fearless now and handled everything grate. Split with the boys for 1 last run and Becky Boo said her legs were tired walking back to the car. Mission accomplished. 95 minutes lot to house to complete the trip to Vermont without the drive.4 points

Nice morning, first chair on quad and first tracks (other than ski patrol) down Razors. Good condition. Nightmare getting a little tough. Spent most of the day on the new 6 pack. All slopes were nice, got softer but never mushy as the morning on. Not crowded, no lift line. Geezers out in force. The bathroom before opening always reminds me of that movie scene from Trading Places, except with us geezers instead of young traders. Brown spots are creeping in, kind of like a zombie take over.4 points

Must have been nice looking out in the distance and seeing snow and not just brown zinc hills.2 points

I would have had a better memory of the place except I had two gay guys ask me to share a room. I declined sternly.2 points

To anyone thinking of coming here, it’s a nice resort. Lots of different terrain, resort seems well run, workers all friendly. And the free bus into town is great! We had some snow almost every day, only had one day when visibility was terrible. We were lucky with the weather.2 points

Travel day yesterday was grueling. Park n Ride off 33 at 3am. 1st flight 630am, landed in Dallas barely had a layover. 2nd flight from Dallas to Missoula around 1230. On to the bus, quick stop for groceries, liquor store and place that won’t be named on a public forum. Got to the resort at dark, got all our stuff in. I got 5 tickets, we’re here for 6 days, so we decided to take today. Just checking out the resort and taking bus into Whitefish.1 point

Figured might as well get an official thread started, we've had some lot talk about it but nothing concrete. Is 3/19 general consensus for the best date for Gaper Day? Or do we want to wait and see if/how much snow they make this week before ruling out the 26th?1 point

Hey All, I’m back from another fun session at Blue mountain the true mountain. I arrived at the lower lot before 715am and in the house were Johnny Law, PARidge, JFDan, Matt Edge, Atomic Jeff, Enjorales, Pops, TP4, Bethlehem Ford crew minus Bethlehem ford guy, Schifdawg, Wally, Dime, Toast and many others. The temperature was in the low 30s to start and the sky's were a mixture of clouds and sun. First run on Challenge had the rolly Polly snow..not that firm though. Main Street was smoother and firmer, Lazy Mile was craptastic and coming soon was decent while lower paradise was chop city. I didn’t get onto razors as it was closed for slalom training. I found Widowmaker to midway to lower Main Street to be the best run. Crowds were light to moderate and they didn’t even run the OG six pack until 10am when I was in the lot enjoying beer and chips. All in all a fun session and I don’t want to be to picky about ski conditions but I’ll give it like a 4.5 out of 10 today.1 point

Had a nice first day at Taos Ski Valley. Kids are in ski school for the next 3 days so I skied a bunch with my wife and kids today. Was nice and sunny and about 3-4 inches of new snow to start. Kachina peak lift opened around lunchtime and we decided it was time to take my son up there. He skied Main Street to Nastar Chute and handled it great. Since that went well I could see he was ready for another extreme steep, Castor. Skied a lot of trees and groomers and all in all a great day. Got lots of pics of my son. Need to get the little son of a bitch to take some of me next time.1 point

@Barb you’ve really been getting after it this season. In that scrapped off snow, no shame in doing the pocono shuffle..shit in JH on one of the herb routes to the base I was doing the windshield wiper skiing like controlled skids..it’s how we ski around here a lot.1 point

Spent both Saturday and Sunday mornings up at Bear this weekend with 2 different cousins. Gonna be there a few nights this weeks teaching somebody and going with somebody else before the season ends. Its frustrating...I tell people year round "anytime you wanna go just let me know". Then they all wanna go the week they close. No official closing date yet but I cant imagine they make it past this weekend.1 point

Switchback was next level bad by 9am it was almost impressive. Between the Air Force buzzing the lot and the cavalry shooting up in the hills I'm just glad @JFskiDan stayed safe. Cool aerial pic too. You can tell that's actually us because even just as a pixel JLaw manages to exude swagger.1 point

Hey All, I’m back from another fun session at Blue mountain the true mountain. I arrived at the lower lot at 715am and in the house were Johnny Law, Atomic Jeff, Schifdawg, Salty, BenM, Airhead, Pops, Enjorales, Mixilplix, MBike Mike, Nastar. Glenn, Bethlehem Ford Crew, Mute, BooBear, Becky Boo and many others. First run I skied challenge which was nice soft smooth snow but some mini rollers…Razors was better as no rollers and I skied that twice and then hit up nightmare to dreamweaver which was also good but a lot of mini thin spots showing. Main Street was full on spring conditions and Widowmaker to midway was quite nice. Lazy mile to the falls was also really good and empty which was a treat and paradise had the same hero snow as the other trails..no edges needed. I ended up skiing 11 runs by 930..then hungout in the parking lot and enjoyed some beers. No chips today as JFDan was gone. It also only rained for a few runs lightly and was foggy a few runs as well but not bad. All in all conditions were better than expected and crowds were less than expected. JADIP1 point

Waaaay to much in the way of logistics with this. At least @Benm got on the lift with 2x4's on his feet. This thing wont get near the lift. However, you may be able to get this to go at JF with skiitoolives on Sunday, since you can just throw it on the snow there and go down. Might have a hike back up tho. I would shoot for the glades, since he heard they were "skiable".1 point

I think Ski Patrol will be ok with this as long as those skis have metal edges. @Benm1 point

Finally got the kids out for a night session. Really enjoyed the snow. Grayson's first run down Coming Soon tonight, he crushed it, for a pizza turner anyway. Best moment of the night for me was when we split up and he and Pops did Widow Midway Lower while Bubba and I did full Main. Stopped to wait across the intersection while Pops sent him ahead down Midway and as he got to Main he did a full, unprompted, head-turned uphill clearance check. So proud, lol.1 point

I like it, too. The chair itself is high for for the tiny folk in our party but hopefully in a season that won't be an issue anymore... I love the ease of access to widowmaker. We hardly ever went on it previously because we avoided the doubles. My hope for next year though is they figure out some way to ease congestion for getting on the lift - or getting off the snow. Its like a game of chicken to get through people and the sea of skis left at the edge of the snow. I love that we never wait in line anymore though.1 point

Indy announcing 4 more additions tomorrow - woohoo Rooting for Elk or Plattekill as I figure Blue and Camelback would go Ikon if they joined a pass and ORDA hills unlikely to stray from ORDA pass.1 point

By the way Doug thanks for the heads up on "Ski Twist" by Hansi Hinterseer. I just blasted it in my daughter's room to get her out of bed. Went over well! Sent from my 6070O using Tapatalk1 point
