  1. Both flights were delayed about a half hour but both my bags and I made it on time. I planned on taking Uber to the hotel but from when I landed until I got my bag, it went from $35 to $85 for the trip to town. One of the no wait taxis outside did it for $40. Room was ready early so quick change and headed to redeem my Indy pass. Full view of Snow King from the hotel room so had to do it. Little bit of a struggle for the ticket agent but we were on the snow by 1245. Lines were non existent and I had the Gondy and quad to myself. I didn’t even know they had a backside but the Sun Bowl had the best snow and ended up there for half of almost two hours I got to check it out. Milder terrain on the back side and slower lift but some trees and ungroomed to play with. Got scooped by Atomic after SK and he even had a beverage waiting.

  2. 1/25/23…Day 1 of 7 Hey All, I’m back from a fun first ski day at Jackson hole. I was up super early which I love cause I can just relax and catch up on the internet. Went to bagel place, got a toothbrush from the front desk cause I forgot mine and at 755am me and atomic Jeff loaded up the Giant Jeep and picked up Nazareth Jay at his hotel. Despite a semi late arrival we were second or third civilian gondola. Temperatures today were in the single digits rising into the teens at the base under cloudy skies with a few flakes initially becoming party sunny. First run down Amphitheater and so good best run of the season so far..2” of Perder on top of groomed…The thunder lift was down so we skied over to the Casper chair and took a run down Casper to black tail to Sundance to the base which was super good. I usually don’t ski that terrain so early in the day so was a real treat. Since Thunder was down we took the Tram to the peak to access Sublette terrain. We had a walk on Tram but it was a full one and very uncomfortable. The most contact I’ve had since my rubdown by security yesterday at Newark airport. Down Rendevous bowl which was ok conditions..semi solid giant bumps with a little fresh..first bumps of skied of the season to Rendevous trail to the Sublette chair and Jay and Atomic did Bivoac. R trail wasn’t skied off yet as it was before 10am. Up Sublette to ten sleep bowl to the cirque to amphitheater to thunder chair which was running. First time ever on the new Thunder high speed quad and you exit the lift sideways which is progressive, I guess because the unloading area is compact. Then cut over to below the expert chutes which was filled in and yielded some fresh to Nez Perce traverse, as I was crusing along moderate speed some goob turned right into my path uphill blind…then a few seconds later his buddy did the same thing and nearly collided with atomic Jeff..that’s a pretty dangerous move on their part and they’re lucky they didn’t get destroyed. Then back into Casper area up Casper and down wide open to the Teton lift then up Teton which was the busiest lift and the day with maybe a 1 minute liftline then down Crags run towards Apres vous which was super good so went back to Teton again and did crags run again then to the base of Apres vous and finished out under the top of the Apres vous lift to St. John’s to buck to the base. Nice lunch at Osteria, I had very good Bolognese and an Arnold Palmer. Today was a fun ski day, wasn’t really a pow day although we skied some pow but it was very pleasant. Right now Mute and Ryan are at snow king and NMSki is probably charming the front desk lady with his sparkling smile. I didn’t take many pictures but I’ll post what I took. Looks like the real snow arrives tomorrow afternoon through Saturday night. Probably about 15-18”+ total.

  3. Yeah had to try the Juicilus, julius with fruit puree. Burke is incredible today. East bowl is one huge playground of drops, powder and bumps

  4. Got to my gate early in Newark and ready to roll. Saw an attractive woman taking a huge bite of a banana which of course piqued my interest. Fingers crossed for a smooth trip!

  8. Didn’t have high hopes for conditions but the kid had a lesson so away we went. She was v excited to show anyone who listened that she had first set of poles. First two runs down Lazy and Main for 9/10. Super surprised but also delighted. Went for a TCS run and back to reality as the head wall was almost completely scraped off. NMDW wasn’t that bad but had some bigger sugar piles. Another MS before 2 post lesson laps with the kid. Less than a minute wait at both the quad and new 6. It’s surprising the lack of ski clubs mid week. Haven’t really caught a crowd yet this new year. Time to finish packing and meet the boys in JH tomorrow.

  9. Finished the day at Burke with a run down Cave man. Got to Saddleback around 4 30, at a brewery in Rangeley now for dinner. Saw some sort of large cat on my way here...bobcat or lynx I guess. Pretty cool but it ran away before I could get a picture

  11. Tackled Tiehack Today! Say that 5x’s fast. There are 3 uphill routes at Buttermilk and Tiehack is the hardest. I had planned to bust it out by the end of the season but my friend is up here with me and it’s her birthday today. So I asked her if she wanted to suffer and she said yes. The x games begin this weekend so getting her pass was a challenge w parking in the main lot. Then we drove over to the Tiehack lot snd it was full, luckily someone was just leaving and we snagged that spot. The lot is right below the lift, so convenient. forecast was for clouds but we did have a bit of sun. Temps about 16 degrees. When looking it up the stats show 1.75 miles up with 1700’ of elevation gain. My watch tracked 1.5 miles and 1847’. Let’s just say it was steep. The skimo crowd was passing us like we were standing still. It was funny after a while. I could barely speak I was so out of breath and they would come in hot on our heels and say hello with no difficulty. Almost to the top. The ski down was fun, we were pooped. Snow quality was really nice too.

  14. Holding down the fort while people fly off to have fun somewhere else. Fairly light crowd today, no lift lines and slopes weren’t too crowded. Upper parts of the slopes were in pretty good shape, but pretty much all the lower parts had heavy sugar snow develop, especially lower Main, lower paradise (both have some very sketchy cover areas), and homestretch. Razors was a lot smoother than yesterday. Lazy was pretty nice, with sugar snow piles starting to develop after the turn. Even Falls was starting to get fluffed up. First flakes started about 1130, snowing pretty heavy now.

  15. It just started coming down in the Ding about 20 minutes ago. Solid rate of fall but big wet flakes so we must be pretty close to the line. It would be a great day to be out on the hill just for it to feel like winter.

  21. It just started snowing at the Knob. Its gonna be a while for it to get here. it will probably snow at blue for a while, but i also think since its coming in later, wont be as much. this was never going to be an epic storm. Maybe just maybe at least the ground will stay covered to make Blue look pretty.

  26. I think Doug’s drop is named after Doug Lewis who was an Olympian and born in middlebury Vt..definitely not me as I’ve never skied Burke

  27. I was there for opening bell today. First run was down CS(FF) and it was was good until you reached Paradise and things were surgary right off the bat. I then did two runs down Razors and they were fantastic with smooth nice snow everywhere. The rest of the mountain, including Main St, Lazy, WM were less good with sugar on tht bottom half everywhere and cover getting thin on Main through the stained area. I kept coming back to CS and Razors as they continued to be better than the rest of the mountain even though they did deteriorate throughout the morning. I left shortly after the snow started to fall. All in all a very nice morning even though the snow started later than initially stated

  28. As a kid I dreamed of riding that trail…never happened. Also, I remember the old snack shack but never saw it open…didn’t they have a restroom building near by? that trail seems similar to the double black diamond at spring mountain, which they keep on their trail map but probably hasn’t been open in 20+ years

  32. If anyone saw the indy pass video from 2 years ago ( I think), they skied and interviewed an older guy named Charlie, berkshire east local. I parked next to him yesterday and mentioned I recognized him from the video. Cool guy, probably thought I was a moron for saying he was famous

  34. It'll be a typical PA storm. Snow turning to ice then rain leaving us with slop to shovel in the driveway because it's too heavy for the blower

  48. Up there again tonight..Conditions were of the snow cone variety....Fast and pretty smooth....Some minor bumps on Sassy and it's still full width...The trail going around the back is really thin...Riding across semi clear ice/slush....The bottom of Timberline is starting to get thin also..Windy and a bit chilly....Snowed a little too......Place was ghosted ....and the snow was fine....Nice way to spend two hours after work....
