  6. Another beautiful day at Blue. Skied from 930-2. Everything was in good shape. Razors and NMDW both closed. Headed out to the lot just as it started to rain. Had a nice tailgate under an Easy up, saw the bald eagle and headed home.

  14. Nah. When crowds are manageable and snow is good (as it was on any of the recent weekdays), MC is much more interesting to explore than BM or CB, both of which feel more compact and offering repetitive skiing, often just looping the same couple of trails that happen to be good today. If I lived 45 minutes away from MC, I'd absolutely get a pass there.

  15. Crowds were not bad at all yesterday. Nice little bump but the learning hill on the magic carpet was pretty steep for a first time toddler. I wanted to use the smaller one but that was reserved for lessons which I thought was kinda lame, especially since the minimum age for a group lesson is 6.

  16. Just an FYI if anyone is looking for a cheap pass. They allow uphill and open an hour early for passholders on weekends. not a bad deal at all.

  17. Fast hardpack under beautiful blue skies, temps in upper 30s. Bumps on Boomer & White Lightning. Used the Indy Pass. Cool antique toboggan. I liked everything but *The Big Stairs* you have to carry your equipment from the lot down to the lodge...& back up. And what's with all those tents?

  18. Hey All, It’s almost weekend, is anybody planning on skiing Blue mountain the true mountain this weekend? Looks like temperatures continue. I plan on skiing Saturday and Sunday and maybe Friday and/or Monday. Remember Monday is an 9am opening.

  19. I’ve blown off lots of work this week and it was totally worth it. Two mid winter mornings and today. Got to the mountain later than I wanted 1:45 but in time for Barneys to soften to perfection. First couple on Barneys 10/10 then hit Challenge and then Coming soon. They gave coming soon a whole lot of love. Besides the ditch being back there’s an upper ditch. Lots of new snow around the upper gun towers that have some fun ups and downs. Tons of racers on the mountain and a race on the school hill. The busses were rolling in like crazy. After spending the rest of the day on Barneys I bailed at 4:45 Nightmare is still a work in progress with a few cookies lol.

  23. How do you know they have more money than young folk? Maybe youngs should pay more since they have longer potential to make more money.

  24. Easy, youngs should get a break as incentive for parents to bring them to the mountain, as they're the ones that want chicken fingers, fries, waffles, lessons, adventure camps, etc. All the high-margin stuff us olds don't typically partake in.

  27. Never real crowded on the Ramrod Triple lift. Thinking of heading there tomorrow as Pokes will freeze up while they will stay thawed. Probably last time I will hit RT this season - barring a South Central PA March blizzard - as the forecast for this week of 2 rainy days in 60s will at least sharply cut into their open terrain and the two week forecast shows this Sat Nt as their only snow making opportunity.

  28. The largest parcel, and the area with the slopes on the right middle is "Elk Mountain Ski Center" There are 3 other large parcels bordering that belonging to "moores motor inc", from gladwyne, and if im not mistaken, thats the family that owns it? or am i dreaming that one up? Also another parcel owned by Elk Herrick Properties from Gladwyne as well. So, if all of that property is "Elk", then yes. lots of land. GIS is fun. Still all 100% lift ride rumors.

  29. They seem to doing well. They plan on bringing some old trails back to life, and add another lift to vernon peak. they are making a 5 million dollar investment into automated snowmaking this season as well. In terms of shorter season, it depends on the year. for 19/20, blue and creek opened on the same date, and closed on the same date due to covid shutdowns, and in 20/21 blue opened 5 days earlier and closed a day earlier. But there are some years where blue opens almost a month before hand. Weather is weird.

  35. Central, Pioneer, Yeti, Come Around and they are literally in the process of building NMDM. I mean NMDM should be 1 but that must be 5 and 6. Blue has something for everyone from parks to the best freeride terrain in PA. We're a lucky bunch.

  36. Had a blast this afternoon making friends in the hike park and trying to bring my boardslides to the steel. Snow is definitely in corn transition but was most excellent everywhere. No boiler plate, no lift lines and still fairly smooth main trails. Blue 2-22-Flat Bar.mp4

  42. Finally made it down to Whitegrass WV Sunday. This place is awesome. The realest of deals. 4 1/2 hr drive each way was worth it but I think I will get a hotel next time. Elevation is about 4300ft so just about as high as anything in the East and storms dump snow from the west in this spot first-nothing is taller till the Rockies. Before it was a nordic area it was a downhill area so there are some old school downhill runs you can hit in addition to the nordic trails, the trees, and some meadows. The higher you go the skinnier the trails get and the more alpine it looks. There are three summits on the trail system as well as access to trails in Dolly Sods and neighboring Canaan Valley and Timberline downhill areas. At the top is as its name Bald Knob would suggest, epic views. 25k of trails are groomed out of 50k in the immediate resort, and a number of them are fairly steep across 1200ft vertical. Tracks set on the lower trails and up the three mile run to the mid summit. Well maintained glades are all over the hill with untracked powder everywhere. At the bottom they have a system of fences set up to catch the snow blowing across the valley and keep it skiiable. The best part though is just that the vibes are absolutely unmatched. There were probably several hundred people there and everyone was having a blast - Hooting and hollering through the woods, hanging out by fires at the little huts all along the trails, chowing down on delicious food in the shack of a lodge at the bottom with all the rental boots hanging from the ceiling around the wood stove to dry off. And there were people of all ages including little kids just ripping through the woods. People were sliding on the whole spectrum of equipment: cross country, telemark, AT, splitboard, sleds, snowshoes. Everyone was so happy and friendly. Granola paradise A place that is good in every meaning of it. I havent been anywhere else quite like it.

  43. Some nice fast snow at the BC tonight...Rode for about an hour and a half...Not a lot of people there...I bounced at 6:15 and the parking lot looked like it was filling up....They got some good coverage from the past storms...and it looks like they are making snow...Was a fun evening session....

  44. Quick test last evening of an easily accessible and relatively smooth "backcountry" PA line not too far from Blue with @mute1080 @Dirtwolf and @mbike-ski. Topped out at near 18 degrees, so figure middle of Paradise? Maybe?
